For the sake of money they have left the public to be the sole fate of a future golden singing voice of indian musics. Lucky kunal did not go through any janta’s scrutiny before otherwise he would long be swept under the carpet. Please stop this massacre of real singing talent among the most deserve ones. Let professionals deal with choosing the best potentials. starplus please stop your greediness over money on the back of pure music!

This is ‘the’ fan site for VOI and you have catered to all the needs and expectations of the fans. The design and structure of the fan site appeals well and linking with youtube by clipping the video into individual performances is a splendid idea. I really liked your introductions before the performance and the polling and comments section enabled active participation for the fans. Your coverage has been extensive and I really appreciate the effort that went into uploading the videos, sometimes at a blitzkrieg rate of few hours after live telecast.
I used to follow Saregama ( before the ‘pa’ was added ) and selectively listened to music songs. Usually I just here the same few songs over and over. But this show and your coverage has exposed me to this vast ocean of indian film music and musical talent. I have started to appreciate vocal singing and at times am able to give critical opinion too.
Now into the show, there have been numerous issues and rumours that has embittered the audience. But, we have to be grateful for the talented performance and entertainment that VOI has given us. My choice of VOI was eliminated in top 5 and I still followed the program and almost all of us did that after their own favorite was eliminated. Of course, the competition and being the winner is what drives the contestants but to me, I just care about their performance and how they improved on it ( episode by episode ). If you are a good singer, voi or not, you still are and the pundits have noticed you. The regional bias has been prevalent for ages and it will be there cause it is natural human tendency. So we really cant help that.
And about our judges, I am not a fan of any of the judges (they never stick to their words) but I am sure they did a great work nurturing the talent behind the screen and we have to be thankful to them for that. Lets not judge the judges based on their onscreen play though it was really entertaining. And Shaan has done a great job at steering the whole show, I admire and adore his humility.
On the whole, it has been an enjoyable experience for me to visit this fan site and follow the show. Kudos to J and to all who have made it possible.

Well I used to read the posts here every week but never replied. Somehow every one was after HArshit’s and Gajendra Singh’s life. Every one said its fixed blah blah blah. I’m happy that Harshit didn’t win. Because had he won every one of you would have said the voting is rigged, this is cheating etc etc. But honestly he deserved to win. And as for ishmeet he should have been the 4th or the 5th contestant to be eliminated. Music didnt win but regionalism did. I’m pretty sure Ishmeet will be lost like some many before him soon after one album.

A little correction to Zaki’s comment: VOI stakeholders have got what they wanted…and thats huge bucks. Do you think they bothered about music and the real winner…Well, I don’t think so.
Few random observations w.r.t the Finale, in a random order:
1. There was common prevailing feeling for quite sometime, that all was not well with the show. Lata ji’s aloofness to choosing the winner (against the what had been repeated said on the show…50% weightage and all) speaks volume that probably none was well with the show and she adorned the occasion only becoz she committed to it long ago.
2. Abhijeet’s absence from the finale where they had some of the distinguished guests too conveys something similar, in undertones.
3. I was multiplexing VOI finale with ‘Iqbal’ on DD-1 yesterday. You can blame it on the immediate effect of the movie or whatever, but I can’t help without saying that sms may not have played any role in deciding the winner. Gajji and others had two weeks time to negotiate with anyone who offered them a good deal! An interesting analogy to this…Interest earned is more interesting than the principal.
In any case, it hardly matters (to me, of course) who wins when the best is out.
4. I am no music expert and hence have a very simple logic in judging the music…and that is “hitting the right notes serves lesser purpose unless your voice comes from your heart and it reaches out to others hearts”! Of the two finalists, I think Ismeet has done it more number of times than Harshit.
5. Whatever might has been instrumental in deciding the winner, an obvious message which should go down loud to the judges is that people still prefer an original singer than a proxy. We all have seen the fate of Mohd Aziz and his likes.
Last but not the least, congrats J for hosting such a wonderful site and maintaining it regularly despite the irregularities of your regular job. VOI derailed from its track many a times but your site never.

I agree a 100% with Zaki..the management got exactly what they deserved (as far as reputation goes).
My biggest dismay and disappointment was that the judges award went to Abhaas despite the clear and decisive chant of the stadium audience of “Toshi Toshi”.
The two awards going to abhaas and abhilaasha instead of toshi and priyani reinforced nothing but the repetitive display of favoritism by the judges.
Sad….but somehow i feel content to see that if the best couldn’t win..atleast the worst has!
I will say abhass is great and deserve that respect.Toshi is great also. I think judges are not fool either. Toshi is going to be very rich guy as Jagjit Singh. People of world selected ISHMIT. Please learn some thing from Ismit’s sanskar. The bottom guy now on the TOP. If you believe in MIGHTY GOD THEN YOU HAVE SEEN IT. God bess all of you good thinking.

Thanks to a heavily castiest society we have yet another case of a sub standard talent ishmeet becoming the so called voice of india.. A question to ponder whether can we ever rise above the petty concerns like lingo or a turban or a region and vote for a genuine talent.we all know the states like w bengal, punjab , maharashtra are extremely region centric and at times the loyalty to state or religion overtakes all other aspects. This being only a singing contest.. may not matter much but it shows a larger malaise afflicting the society..

I absolutely enjoyed Irfan’s performance.. Toshi, Abhaas and Prantik were good too. I wished they would have given something to Irfan as well. He was splendid yet again. He stole the show in my view and the live band did him full justice. Its amazing how the guy can sing the same “Alvida” songs on 3 different occasions and yet make each one of them unique in their own way..
As far as the winner is concerned, well, Congratz to Ishmeet. All of the contestants are winners in their own respect and I wish them all the best

But what boggled my mind was that the prize money was merely 10 lakhs?? Where is all that SMS money?

So I don’t get it, what was Lata ji doing on the show other than announcing the result. What was her part in selecting the winner as it was supposed to be. Now it should be totally clear that Ishmeet won not because of his talent but because of the votes coming in from Punjab. The people of Punjab spent so much money on voting for Ishmeet that those votes took him past Harshit’s lead from the other 3 zones. So the people of Punjab must be really happy now. The guy from their state won the contest and a lot of money and a contract. And yeah what did they win. Nothing! They lost money and are probably wondering what they are going to get in return for that. Again the answer is, Nothing! Congrats to Ishmeet though. Let’s see where he goes from here. I will be surprised if anyone remembers him after a couple of years. Maybe they will - “He was that sardarji who won that contest coz of all the votes he got from the rest of his punjab buddies. Where is he now? Oh yeah he had that album and then dissapeared coz everyone realized that he sucks and no one can vote to save his career now. Too bad, maybe people should’ve voted sensibly when they had the chance. Too bad.”

I am in total agreement with you Jo that it’s not Ishmeet who’s won the contest, short messaging system is the winner all the way. People of panjab put in so much of money that there was no way anyone else could come near ishmeet in votes.
And the loser is not Harshit or Abhaas or Toshi or Irfan, It is the MUSIC - our sur, sangeet, sanskar - they all lost out to voting. The judges, Lata ji, Madhuri Dixit, Shaan - they simply couldn’t do anything. And so many times in all those episodes, it showed on our judges faces that they were not happy with Ishmeet making it to the finals, but couldn’t do anything. Let me ask ishmeet if he can sing any of the songs that Toshi sang on the show. common, give it a try ishmeet! and the viewers will see where he goes from there!!!!!
Gajji, it is high time to do away with this voting system before we lose our trust on good music and singing and completely boycott your shows.

To all those who keep on harping about Punjab and Sikhs, ask yourselves how is it possible for Punjab with a populaion of 2%, 4% of Mobile phones and 3% of GDP can be accused of usurping rest of India? 1. Are you planning to continue this forum for a while just to track the whereabouts of the ‘Bemisal Baarah’ at least for the short-term?
2. I don’t know why Abhijeet decided to stay away, but I may have been a prior commitment - I saw the advertisement on the ATN channel that he is performing on Nov 25th in Toronto…..and these events don’t get organized overnight. Probably, the date was decided much earlier than VOI.
3. I am surprised at people expressing opinion on the time Lataji was contributing to this program! People should know that bigger the stature of the guest, lesser the time spent in contributing to the occasion, unless they are promoting something.
4. Finally, there was no mention of the voting through http://www.indya.com in the analysis of the votes during all the voting stages. I wonder whether it was ever counted at all, not to forget that http://www.indya.com votes did not contribute money directly to the show, so they may have just ignored the whole thing and looked at only the SMS messages.

First of all, I would like to thank the anchor of this site Mr ‘J’ to share with us the videos of the show & ofcourse the place to share the views & comments on the show.
Now for the show,
I will comment on the real talent later.
First,As per format of the show that the person with the largest number of votes will win after the 12 contestants are selected by Judges, then I say Ishmit deserved the VOI award as he got the votes of the public without using any sypathetic techniques to get the voters to favour him like Harshit & some others, to bring his grand mother or any thing like that and always tried to improve upon his previous performance.So I would like to congratulate him on this and wish him all the best for his future which definitely will not depend upon the sms votes.
Now comes the real talent:-
I saw all the videos & saw that Abhaas got all round applause, standing applause from various judges & guest Judges who knew music, probably better than many reviewers here. He showed his excellence in every type of song, may it be quawalli,gazal,classical or the latest filmi songs. He also showed voice modulation, confidence & stage performance. So he was the best & that was endorsed, even by the opposite group judges Alkaji & Abhijitji & ofcourse the neutral judge Jatinji. That’s why He got the “Jury Award”…This I think is Real Voice of India on the basis of Talent.
If any body suspects the Jury Award then I would say that these judges are not fools & they know they are also being judged by many music learned public and not only music loving public.
I congratulate these Judges for this.
The nearest candidate to challenge Abhaas was Toshi. He is also a very good singer but he could not show those varities as Abhaas did in his various performances.
I will appreciate Gajendra singh to have this special Jury Award for the real talent as he also could see that the indian public is using the same
emotional, regionalism etc.as they use to elect their leader in election. So real applause to him & the Judges that they kept the format of voting & Jury award both.
Some thing to learn:-
The voting pattern reflects how the Indian Leaders are being elected in our country & why democracy is being misused & the slow progress of India.
India could have been super power by now but for the poor emotional,uneducated people.
Did You Guys See the part where they asked the rest of the participants who should win .. all them said harshit is the deserving one but because of the big fan following ishmeet has from punjab he’s going to win !!… SOOO TRUEE!! … i agree with all them !! … hmphh next show the shouldnt tell where the person is from !! … the should keep that a secret …
Reference to some comments that VOI picked up a sub standard Ismeet. Are these ppl musicain by profession? The fact is that Judges were sub standard but viewer more intelliegent who understood the judges bias towards singers and rightly voted for deserving Ishmeet whose voting bank increased day by day. Ishmeet deserved it. His performance on final day was supurb. I hope next time VOI picks up secular and first rate music directors as Judges.Indian Idols organiser had more sincere judges who appreciated participent of other Gharana than their own(Javad is one of best of all Judges I watched in Indian Idol show).

I just wanted to applaud the selfless nature and devotion to music on the part of J.
The result was inevitable, a mediocre singer with a limited range and elected by the power of the masses.
The organizers of the show are just plain greedy, the other deserving singers and particularly girls did not get anywhere near the final. What a bigoted nation this country has become.
Grand Finale was awesome…I loved all the performances…Harshit, Ishmeet, rest of Bemisaal Barah were all fantastic…Gajendra Siingh and Shaan have always delivered very entertaining finales…
Some thoughts for season 2:
1. I SERIOUSLY think all the judges need a crash course in how to communicate effectively in front of a camera…many a times we see Alka or Jatin try to say something and either stutter or fail to deliver what they want to say…go learn from Shekhar Suman or Sidhu (as annoying as they can be, they really know what to say once you’re on the stage).
2. Shaan needs to cut his hair - everytime it comes on his face, I feel like pulling mine!
3. Introduce new rounds like Old Sa Re Ga Ma - change taal, rhythm of the songs, sing in different key…that way we can eliminate singers like Ishmeet(and many others who are not trained) early in the competition.
That’s it!
Well -i think it is pointless talking about who was deserving or otherwise -it has been done -the crowning moments has come and gone -i would like to raise a question to mr gajendra singh -what is the real purpose of a show like voi? Is it about making money -publicity -baseless-heartless -pointless reality television soapie or the hunt for real talent ?-now ishmeet has won what is his future ? Where does he go from here ? Is he really prepared to take on the likes of sonu nigham ,udit narayan and co? Will be another one of the winners who will be lost forwever?
My observation is that these winners of the so called talent shows are lost because they are not selected for the right reasons -they are the products of partisan support -based on emotional and ethnic associations rather than pure talent.
I have a few suggestions for the producers of such shows if they ever bother to log on to the websites like this one :
1- points from each show given by the judges for each performance must be added to the final tally -so the judges mark them properly rather than hastily and some times just to settle their own scores -(i am refering to lalit and abhijeet)
2-60% judges scores and 30% sms votes and 10% neutral judge scores if you can find one _ i am sorry jatin did not sound like a neutral judge -
3-no wild card entries -it is good for money making but demoralises the contestants and is unfair
4-winner must not be given a fifty lakh or whatever contract only but must be given an opportunity to learn from a ustaad or given an opportunity to up his/her skills -
I am sure if you do the above you will get the true most deserving voi.
Lastly who ever has designed this website has done well .

Lessons that Star TV, GS, Judges, and everyone should learn from SVOI
1. Forget what the talent is. People vote on the basis of regionalism not on talent. After all we humans are tribalistic, the order is me, my family, my village, my religion, my state, my nation, and last the one who actually deserves.
2. So when the results are based on Votes, to vote, people will have to first see the show, then have a mobile phone, then have the money to vote, and finally have the tribalistic desire to see someone from his own state, community, religion as winner, the result is Ishmeet Singh Sodhi, an ordinary bathroom singer, singing ordinary songs, emerging as winner.
3. Punjab the richest state in India has the highest level of cable and mobile penetration. People are rich to spend on sending SMS, and final trigger to reinforce that someone from Punjab should become the winner was provided by the judges by criticizing Ishmeet, which only reinforced the belief among his tribe that he should be made the winner, singing talent can go to hell.
4. One can not even blame the judges, they probably must have been under pressure from the producers and directors of the show to turn the heat on Ishmeet, which they though will trigger flood of SMS and generate revenues for the channel so that they can keep their jobs intact.
So what we have got is not SVOI but SVOP (Sardar Voice of Punjab).
We have to ask question to ourselves, why we feel so great when some odd Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams goes to space, some odd Indian wins a medal in international sporting event, or Indian cricket team wins a series against Pakistan. Why can not we simply consider these as individual achievements for which the religion, region, state, nation has contributed nothing and also will gain nothing out of it.
It is only when we get over with this false feeling of being proud of someone’s individual achievements; we can truly appreciate the talent.
Lastly the Grand Finale was a grand let down. A show pathetically produced full of confusion. What happened to 50% weightage to Lataji in announcing the final winner? Was she invited only to announce the winner?
What was the basis of giving other two awards? Were those the unanimous choices of the judges or they had the differences between them? Why was Abhijeet not present?
There are more questions than the answers.
Last a simple advice to the channel, producers, and directors, which will keep commercial interest alive as well as allow true talent to be the winner
1. After initial eliminations, give equal weightage to voting and judges opinions.
2. Eliminate participants on the basis of cumulative voting, not on the basis of votes for a week alone. This will prevent the shocks like Toshi being highest vote getter for two weeks is eliminated in the third.
3. Allow negative voting, i.e. ask people to vote whom they would like to be eliminated rather than keep going. This will eliminate regional biases.
4. Change judges every week. This will eliminate the biases that the judges develop.
5. After you have reached final four, do not eliminate anyone. Let there be four weeks of performances and voting (Positive and Negative both) and winner to be emerged on the basis of cumulative votes received.
6. Lastly allow voting only for a few hours after the show. This will ensure that only those who have watched performances vote not friends and relatives later on.

Ishmit is not a complete Playback singer as compared to Harishit. He has own this contest only from Punjabi votes so the contest has no meaning. Harshit can sing everytype of songs his voice is melodious also he can sing any difficult song. The final episode was really gimmick why they called Lata Mangeshkar. The real thing and strange thing is Harshit has got votes not only from UP but also Every corner of India and also got highest number of votes from South,East and west zones. So how could Ishmit win in this contest God knows and StarPlus knows.

I agree with Prakash and kalyani. What were the toal number of votes? How did Ishmeet win even when Harshit got 34% more than him from other parts of India , when the North included UP as well?
Someone needs to pile a PIL or ask under teh RTI Act, since lots of money and emotions were involved. Let not anybody take us for a ride. Am not against anybody winning, but it has to be fair and square.
Here is some data I found in the official website of VOI.
Star TV is proud to announce Ishmeet Singh the winner of its first musical reality talent hunt show. After six months of overcoming many challenges and scoring over other talented singers of Amul STAR Voice of India, Ludhiana’s Ishmeet Singh has been able to win the hearts & minds of millions across nations. The break-up of the votes is as follows: North region - Ishmeet - 63%; Harshit- 37% ; East region-Ishmeet- 48%, Harshit-52%; West region -Ishmeet- 40% , Harshit- 60% and South region -Ismeet- 45%, Harshit- 55% , so Total percentage of votes recieved by Ishmeet-52% and Harshit-48%.
Does it add up? In the 3 zones Harshit was leading by a total of 34% and in the Norhtern Zone he was behind by 26%. So he is still ahead by 8%!!! Or have I missed sumthing here?

Anandi…. you are right , when I culculated the percentage of votes for both of these singers, Harshits was 51% over all and Ishmeet was 48% ( based on the percentiles from each region).. I am confused now that I mean as you said Anandi what is goin on here, what are we missing here? can some one add their expertise in this culculation please?
SHAME to Gajender Singh & Star Plus,who for the sake of money ( collected via SMSs & Televoting)made the “voice of India” a big Terror Show, which has nothing to do with the Talent.

I totally agree with iceangel3. I don’t know what is the wrong in the judjement but I know one thing that the one who does not deserve the VOI got it. It’s really very unfaire. In deed, Harshit, Toshi, Abhas, Irfan, Priyani and Abhilasha is much better than Ishmeet. The judgement made by the public is a huge discouragement for such Talented singers like Harshit and Toshi. And the judges do not have any audacity to tell the truth as a result those who do not have the potential of singing are thinking that Ishmeet is as good as or better than some of the most talented guys like Harshit and Toshi. VOI is a mess like the last Indian Idol show.
Ishmeet is the Voice of Punjab, Delhi and Haryana belt and not of India. He always got saved by these zones. In the final, he lost in 3 zones, then how can he be voice of India. We have just made a religeous cry of what was supposed to be a musical journey.
In my view, the best was Abhas & Irfan, followed by Harshit, Toshi and then Ishmeet.
Ishmeet was the better singer in the last 4-5 episodes(when it really mattered). Anyone can see that he has improved a lot from the begining & this is the guy who doesn’t even have any perfosseional training in singing. If he is so good now you could just imagine how good he is going to get in future after he gets some kind of music training. This guy is improving at a rapid pace. He is not going anywhere…….mark my words you will hear his name for a long long time. CONGRATS ISHMEET!! I don’t care what any1 says you deserve it man & congrats to harshit too, he is a good singer as well.
VOTING BREAKDOWN:
For people who can’t understang the voting breakdown. It is simple………there must have been far more votes from the North Zone then any other zone. For e.g….say there were 100 votes each from east, West & South Zone & 200 votes from North Zone. Now let’s break it down in to numbers… South 55%-45% so Harshit 55 votes & Ishmeet 45 votes….east 52%-48% Harshit 52 votes & Ishmeet 48 votes, West 60%-40% Harhit 60 votes Ishmeet 40 votes, North Zone 37%-63% Harshit 74 votes Ishmeet 126 votes (because there were double the number of votes from North than any other zone). Now if you add up all the votes then Harshit ends up with 241 votes & Ishmeet ends up with 259 votes. So in total voting Ishmeet ended up with 52% voting & Harshit ended up with 48%. If you still can’t figure it out then you need to go back to elementry school or something…lol. For all the Ishmeet bashers remember Harshit’s home state UP is in North Zone as well & if I am not mistake it has a huge population. So it’s given that Ishmeet must have recieved a fare amount of votes from UP as well.
BOTTOM LINE IS ISHMEET WON & PEOPLE NEAD TO LEARN TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE. ONCE AGAIN CONGRATS ISHMEET & ALL THE BEST TO YOU, HARSHIT & REST OF THE VOI PARTICIPANTS IN THE FUTURE.

Let me explain you with some figures with the same percentage.
Suppose South Zone polled 100,000 votes, means 45,000 went to Ishmeet and 55,000 went to Harshit (45:55).
Suppose West Zone polled 200,000 votes, means 80,000 went to Ishmeet and 120,000 went to Harshit (40:60)
Then East Zone suppose polled 100,000 votes, means 48,000 went to Ishmeet and 52,000 went to Harshit (48:52).
Now the catch is about North Zone votes.
Suppose North Zone polled 2000,000 votes, then according to your percentage Ishmeet got 1260,000 and Harshit got 740,000 votes (63:37).
Now if you add percentages (as u did) you are going to end up with the wrong result. The reason because the denominator (i.e. the number of votes polled in each reason) is not constant, so u cant simply add up.
Now, count the votes for Ishmeet and Harshit in the example I gave:
Ishmeet = 45,000+80,000+48,000+1260,000= 1433,000
Harshit = 55,000+120,000+52,000+740,000= 967,000
This makes Harshit is a loser.
Because number of votes in North Region were far more, so a slight lead in terms of percentage in the North region means very high difference in terms of votes. And votes are to be totalled and not the percentages.
In a lighter vein, adding percentages is like explained below:
I give 100% at work.
15% on Monday,
25% on Tuesday
45% on Wednesday
10% on Thursday
5% on friday

Very less non-sikhs wanted him to be the winner because somehow they also can’t see any Sikh person or someone who belong to minor community of india should progress in his life, they definitely being jealous but we don’t care for them because our Waheguru (God) is with us and punjab has once again shown their unity, it doesn’t mean that he didn’t get votes from rest of india, He did. For all those who are statistically oriented must understand that the % is mere distribution of the total votes polled not the absolute number of votes polled. So if say Harshit had lead of 20% from all other regions and was behind by 10% in north, but if the votes polled in north were 3 times more than the votes polled in all other regions put together, he would loose.
Real issue is voting on the basus of me, my family, my friend, my locality, my city/ village, my state, me religion, etc. Not the talent.

I don’t think anyone has a problem with a Sikh becoming the winner. I don’t see why they should. Sikhs are by nature some of the nicest people I know of. But I have a problem with Ishmeet becoming the winner. Not because he is a Sikh but because he isn’t good at singing. Alright when compared to Harshit I don’t have too many regrets since Harshit didn’t impress me too much last few episodes. But overall compared to others who were eliminated before. But whatever why the hell is anyone even arguing about it now. Nothing’s gonna change, no one from Star or anywhere bothers about what we have to say so let go of it. It’s done. Ishmeet is the VOI. Accept it, move on.

Ishmeet hasn’t won because of talents but only because of Punjab votes so he is not a true winner. Harshit was leading in 3 quarters of India but the richer state poured more money and casted votes to make Ishmeet the winning. Ishmeet will be really stupid if he thinks that he is good singer. Even Kavitaji said he needs practise and for Harshit she said he was too good. Well Harshit not to worry you have a much brighter future.
I must say i really really liked Ishmit and Abhaas as they are both genuine lads. no dialoguebaazi etc - just sticking to their songs. Although i liked Harshits voice I found him a big phoney every time he opened his mouth - a real suckers for backpat. I feel sorry for Ishmit when guys here ridicule him. He sang from his heart and showed real improvement thruoghout the show. I agree that there were better, more trained contestents - but one has to accept the rules of the game. These rules were loud and clear from day one. Had it purely been a judges selection , most people here would still have cribbed about favouritism, religious bias etc once their favourite contestent got out. Cribbers would crib no matter what.
I dont understand whats all this against punjab. They just voted for their candidate. And for those naive souls who are surprised/shocked - its probably never too late to learn that regionalism exists, not just in india but in all parts of the world. The question then to ask is why didnt UP vote enough for Harshit, afterall its the most populated state ? Is it because there are more mobile phones in punjab then in UP or because Upiites really dont care one way or the other. Perhaps someone will throw light on that.
For those who are against public voting there was also a judges selection round. I COMPLETELY agree with their selection. These guys know their stuff. And yes they are allowed to have their favourites - thats the whole damn point of the judges round.
Finally percentages are relative. They cannot be simply added if not from the same population.

Just think how could Ishmit be the winner though he got only votes from Punjab,Hariyana,Delhi. However Hashit got votes from every parts every corner of India. He is the real singer also the future of of Indian Music. Ishmit cant sing Kawali,he cant sing duets as we saw with Kavita Krishnamuthy and Alkaji he is totally failure. Just think Hashit has sanged tumkya jano mohabat kya hai, Pade ghungoro,Ghaike panbanaras wala, Mitwa to ab, Hare Krishan Hare ram, Kya ehi pyar he and many more the songs are memorable for ever. Ishmit cant sing this type of song. He is not a complete singer.

First, let me say that I am not a fan of Ishmeet. For all those people who are saying that Ishmeet got votes only from north aren’t they forgetting that he got 45%from south, 48 % from east, 40 % from west and I am not counting north. That adds to a lot of votes. It was obviously a close contest and not a walkover as all messages are making it seem . So ishmeet DID get a lot votes from all over india. harshit just got a few more. And since Gajji never announced the total number of votes, we don’t know if we are talking lakhs or crores here. And 5 % of a few lakhs is not much
So let’s not make this a regional thing just because Gajji did so because he wanted to earn money through SMS . And let’s not forget that Harshit came from north too. Morover, north is more than just Punjab

The best has won and one shud respect the verdict and the judgement.One must salute the winner who has been able to emerge despite everyone going dead against him. To win one must have not only the talent but also have enough inteligence and skill to attempt the exam. With these qualities coupled with the talent Ishmeet has been able to emerge as winner despite many odds. He has been very careful in selecting the songs and there timings. The more he was admonished more he was strong. One must learn from the whole show how an ordinary person from a small place and state can go a long way to beat a person who was blue eyed boy for the each organisrs and judges. My sympathies are with those who are crying without any reason.

I have one comment to make to all those who are relishing in big ‘conspiracy theories’. i debate it below.
DATA:
1) Ishmit was not the only one from punjab. There was also arshpreet (who i think is more talented than Ishmit, but what i think is besides the point here) who everyone has conveniently forgotten. Public voted her out long ago.
2) Difference between harshit and Ishmits votes is small excluding the north zone.
REASONING : If it is only about sikh and Punjab support then Arshpreet should at least have been second. But that is not the case.
INFERENCE :
Therefore the reason Ishimit is first is not because of sikh/punjab support only (as otherwise it would have applied to Arshpreet as well). The reason he won is because he genuinely appealed to most of the indian public. This is supported by the fact that the net difference between Harshit’s and Ishmit’s votes is small.

PS1. Nyla arshpreet never begged for votes. He is really one of the more elegant particpants of the show.
PS2.I personally think that public voting is not a good idea. But then these shows are out there to make money. I support a selection system based on judges choice based on a critical analysis of each performance. The question is Where does one find such judges???

I agree with AJ . In all these reality shows like indian idol, sa-re-ga-ma and VOI the judges were partial and had a bias attitude. On the other hand, it is via public voting that toshi came back in wild card entry and consectively, managed to get the highest votes. Good to hear that toshi is coming up with an album from rossi.
My family members are all toshi’s fans.Even if he did’nt become VOI , i think he won all our hearts.

Always negative remarks make a person strong and determind. I think the above comment is vry much afraid of punjabis.Ishmit won not due to punjabi’s but getting votes from all of India. Just see how close he is in the rest of India. 52% to 48%, 55% to 45%, 60% to 40%. The other votes from North where Harshit lives. More population in UP. Sikhs only 2% of whole India. Out of that 30% lives out of India. Please give me a break. Ishmit won because of his dedication and hard work and took all the negative comments in positive manner. Hey I don,t putting you down at all my dear. Its just my opinion.Toshi is also great in different way. What do you think Nusrat Fathey Ali khan was a good play back singer Answer is NO. He sang few songs because he was famous with his own and own voice in Kabali. Whenever I listen that guy I went too close to God. He was too too good. No body can touch him for the next 500 years.So Toshi is good also. He has his own style. Ishmit is selected because of his sweet voice and may be the public is looking for the same. And there is no reason to get upset. He did work hard. Listen the poor guy and you won’t get upset

It does not matter who has won the VOI title or who has won the judges’ award. It matters little as to who hosts the Chote Ustad. The real winner is the one who passes the test of time. Now that the show is over, all the contestants are in the real battle field of life…and whoever survives will be the real winner.
Next year, when Star comes back with yet another version of VOI, there would be set of new contestants…new dynamics, politics and discussion. If a contestant of this show makes it big in the music industry, ppl will remember him/her. Otherwise, there are many reasons to let bygone be bygone.

Well, I don’t care who hosts the Chote Ustad show but I guess one of the judges of the SVOI would have been the ideal choice…They all behaved so childishly so many times in front of the whole world. Now what could be a better proof to claim your stake for the job of an anchor?

To all you people who cannot accept reality:
As members of the public, we support one person and get emotional. In my case, I have always said Abhaas was my favourite, and despite the outcome of the show, the real decision makers think he is the best also - hence his new job.
When Abhaas did not make it to the final, I cheered the remaining two contestants on. It would have been childish to whine about it.
Lets skip the semantics and emotions, and accept that today, Abhaas rightfully got the best out of the entire situation. Apart from hosting the show, he also has other contracts he is working on.
There have been so many armchair ‘experts’ analyzing the singers to death. Where are these ‘experts’ now? I have always based everything on how their performance sounded to me personally as a layperson, and as fate would have it, I was right.
Abhaas is the real winner, and now he is gaining worldwide popularity. Would some of you people still spew negativity out of you mouths forever?… or will you now grow up, close the book and move on.
Good luck Abhaas, you deserve every bit of your success.
The bottom line is VOI is over and ishmeet is a winner… and u fuckin assholes who are running their mouths against ishmeet get back to ur own work… nomatter how he won!! but ishmeet is a celeb now. u guys can do nothing official abt it. instead of criticising others. why dont u pack ur bags outta here and take a chill pill. some people only know how to waste their time in talking bullshit about others, they themselves are not capable of anything. anyways my favourite was toshi :D. still cheers to ishmeet and best of luck to all the contestants and kick on a ass to fucking loosers who are wasting their precious time in talking shit about the winners.

People who used to regularly post messages about the Grand Finale, winner etc. has stopped doing so long ago!. They are now enjoing other reality shows / music programs.

BTW, it was a pleasure to hear Abhaas all over again when he rendered ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ in the first episode of Chhote Ustaad. Again his rendering of ‘Hum tere pyaar mein saara aalam …’ to honour Shaan. Outstanding singing!
He certainly has all our blessings for successfully hosting this show.

Harold, You are good person and you havn’t heard Ishmit the same song SATAM SUNDRAM. Believe me he will blow your ears the day he will sing this song. Ishmit is in the same town Ludhiana where I used to live and I born there. I live in Canada from early seventiies. Every body is saying on this site He won because of Sikhs. Sikhs population in India is 2%. It does’t make any sense. Please make me feel If this is not true. He won because of his dedication and honesty. Abbass is great kid and I love the guy. But Ishmit won the contest. Just one point to bring to your notice..
I believe that you are not Indian. So I don’t know how much you know about the Indian music legends. Out of the many this nation has churned out, the 4 finest music related personalities were present as judges (and their judgment was for real because they were the only one to “select” the best out of a given lot) in the wild card round. Believe me, you probably have not heard Indian music enough to know that all 4 of them are at a much higher level than the 4 who thought Abhaas was the best in the lot. And if you remember, Abhaas was not selected by the same more emminent judges who thought Toshi, Arshpreet, Priyani and Prantik were the best in the lot given to them to judge.
On a personal note, I always liked Abhas’s singing. He has good grasp on classical music and I prayed very hard for him to be on the top 2 and win the damn title once the much better talent was ousted. He also appears to be a nice fun loving guy and is doing a good job with Chhote Ustaad. I wish and pray for him that he gets what he is really capable of achieving.
But, all of you who believe in the judges and their music of the wild card round should also believe and respect the fact that Abhaas was not the “best”. And Harold, you probably still won’t understand.
And “the hence his new job” is probably because SVOI is competing with SRGMP and finding a host who is of the same age. Just a thought.

Rovino: I never had an interest on the racial background of any performer. That just simply does not interest me. I have nothing against Ismeet - and I never criticized him.
Still: Abhaas is my favourite all round. Again, I base that on my layperson’s music ability. I am not an expert at music, but I do know what I enjoy hearing.

Yesterday Saregama singers were at toronto.It was such a bore show.sumedha and mussarat were so bad and so loud and besure.Looks like singer on some wedding party.taja and Onik were good.I think harpreet wes mad at someone.He didi not sing any song.Total bore and wastage of money.

I think the Judges suck, They with their horrible comments, especially Alka Yagnik, and Abhijeet shoudl take a few lessons from American Idol, Paula Adbul is sweet, and even when people do not sing well, they do not insult them the way Alka does. She should definitely not be a jsudge. Have a heart These young singers ar standing overnight to give an audition, they so not deserve to be insulted so badly. And anyway who are these singers to insult. It is not as if they can hold a candle to Lataji, or Ashaji, or Muhammed Rafi.
