And it’s time for the last performance of the day and who better than Toshi to give the final performance?
He sang ‘Mera Piya Ghar Aaya’ and as expected, did full justice to the song. I think it would be an awesome experience to listen to him LIVE. It’s been quite some time I have attended a live performance but listening to Toshi makes me want to attend one. I had few comments on my site that few folks are planning to bring Abhaas to US for a tour, I think they should call in Toshi too, it would be a great concert!

For me “voice of India” episode is ended since yesterday, as Toshi is eliminate from competition.
Toshi is Dynamic, He always Rock the show. The title “voice of world” on Toshi is less suitable, Rather I would like to recommend He is a “voice of Spirit”
I want him to lunch solo album like a Kailash’ve did.

Toshi’s elimination from ASVOI leaves a big question mark on the purety of the show,whether the winner is pre decided and all that voting drama is juts nothing but serving the economical benifit to the producer.A contenstant who sings when ever and what ever,whether its just an average song or a classical qawali,a disco song or a romantic song,the crowd keeps on saying ONCE MORE and roars of TOSHI TOSHI echoes the studio.couldnt manage to get the votes to keep himslef in the show.THATS JUST DRAMA.Toshi is singer of many varities and way ahead of all the others casue of his ability to sing all kind of songs.Those who call him a sufi singer,go and listen his performance of YA ALI from gangster or SONI DE NAKHRY,those who call him classical singer go and listen the DARDE DISCO and TADAP TADAP.He is righty called VOICE OF TEH WORLD.None of indian singers including SONU NIGAM too can sing NASRAT FATEH song as effortlessly as toshi sings.One nice thing was said by a judge that all the singers sing under guidance of a composer and then they produce thier magic but all hats off to that BRILIANT LAD who sings on his potency.I wish him very best of luck in future.

Hey I think ur voting system is the most non-sense thing. I myself had done hundreds of vote for toshi(He is simply the best). VOI will regret when he will become the most famous singer of the world that the title of VOI was very small for Toshi….

When the television czars work overtime to maintain their viewership, the talent certainly takes the backseat. Toshi, you have a long journey ahead of you. We have been conditioned so much to hear Bollywood music that we think that is the only kind of music or the only real music. There are many who have commented that Toshi can sing only a particular genre of music. But they conveniently forget that his genre is the original and the most difficult one (though I do not think that he did not sing other styles reasonabley well).
Let me talk about the Bollywood music first. Bollywood music has not been great always. There was a golden era in the 60’s-70’s when songs regularly used to be semi classical based rendered beautifully by Lata ji, Manna Dey saab, Md Rafi saab and the likes who were classically trained. This was the time when Hindi cinema music did more progress than the movies we were churning..The music was way more mature. Listen to Kuhu kuhu Bole Koyalia, Jyoti Kalash Chalake, Maayi ri Main ka se kahun peer, Madhuban mein radhika naache re, Laga chunari mein daag, Poocho na kaise main, all the songs of Baiju bawara and the list is very very long. These songs are still considered to be standard for anyone aspiring to sing without the guidance of a teacher. There were some emotional numbers like Din Dhal jaaye, yeh raat yeh chandani fir kahan, Rahe na rahe hum, waqt ne kiya and I know this list is probably bigger than the earlier one. For those who have heard a lot of classical music, these songs will always remain in a very high esteem..
Then came an era of Mr Kishore Kumar who had a strong power packed voice but who was not trained. But he gave some beautiful numbers and long and never ending list of imitators and I cannot help but put Harshit in that list..And I unless he develops his own unique style, he will not go much ahead..
After Kishore Kumar, there has been a general degradation in the kind of songs being made except an occasional brilliance here and there..There has been a revival of sorts of late in the music of SEL, AR Rehman saab, Vishal Bharadwaj, Pritam and to a certain extent HR (when he prefers to use the voice of other singers)
But is Bollywood music the only kind of music in India? No definitely not..But it is the most easily accessible music for the masses. But IMHO, classical music (Hindustani as well as Carnatic) is still the best and most refined form of music and will always remain so. Ghazal, qawalli, sufi, bhajan all have their roots in the ancient classical music..And it is unfortuante that there are more listeners of Kumar Sanu than Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Pt Bhimsen Joshi ji or Pt Jasraj ji.
But let us face it. Playback singing is more about making your voice suit to a certain situation to a certain person. The aim of any movie is to reach out to the masses and thus in the process generate revenue for the producers. These talent hunt shows have succeeded in generating high TRP and money but they have failed miserably in giving genuine singers. Only 3 singers have really made a mark in the last 15 yrs. Reason? There can never be so many playback singers as these talent hunt shows generate because the existing ones are doing everything for the producers and music directors.. So I will remain skeptical about the future(?) of the winner of these shows in Bollywood singing.
But we do need many more classical singers in the future. I doubt that the “filmy” music in this age of “dard-e-disco” will ever give us easy to grasp classical music as it did once. We need singers who can do that independently and I wish Toshi does it. I won’t mind if he does not get a chance to playback for SRK..but I will be only happy to see him doing it in his private albums and live shows.
The voting system has become a necessary evil now. Gajji and others cannot live without it now. And singers like Toshi will keep on loosing to this system not once but twice because there will be fewer who would really understand that. How I wish somone starts a classical talent hunt show (sans voting system). Any takers for the show? More than that, any producer having guts to launch such a show?
A long post but then when everyone was talking so much, I could not stop myself.

They both are born gifted singers and my heart goes out for both of them in their singing career..I strongly believe that some bias judges
on VOI show (Jatin-Lalit) and their beloved brother-in law Aadesh can stop both of them becoming VOI but not from becoming TRUE VOICES of WORLD…

I was not a big fan of Toshi in the beginning, but I am a huge fan of Nusrat Fateh Ali khan, and I think that after Nusrat, Toshi is my second best for any of Nusrat’s songs. I think he should sing all of nusrat’s songs and make an album of it. Would be great to hear that. I think these last two songs of lagan lagi and mera piya ghar aaya were his outstanding performances.
Just as a side note, I think that abhijeet should be eliminated next time as a judge, if they have votes for the contestants they should have votes for who should be the judge too. Abhijeet says the most ridiculous things on the show and contradicts himself all the time. I mean please be a judge on the show not a critic. I think the show could use some neutral judges instead of judges who have their own favorites.
i guess there may be some consipiracy against him, toshi is best from all of singers in the competition, no one can sing like him and his last song was memorable, may GOD bless him

I know you are emotional with ASVOI and toshi, but do understand this is business for STAR TV.. more than anything..This is not a charitable institution where they can follow all the right ways..I have told before also, their point of bringing toshi through wild card was to attract viewers and they succeeded in their task. Do not blame Gajji, he cannot do much… but toshi got enough opportuinity and also he proved that he can be a great singer, am sure within 2 years he will be like sonu nigam… GOOD LUCK TOSHI…

I am definitely not ASVOI fan and you may call it my obsession with Toshi…I did not like ASVOI a bit..The “business” that these people have made of music is what hurts me..You are absolutely right in saying that Gajji got it all wrong with the WC round (which, btw, is a standard thing in all the music shows..It is another necessary evil just like the voting system and Gajji again cannot do anything about it)..I liked hearing Toshi in this show and I wanted to hear him more..That is it..
I just wished there was something like SRGMP in the good old days of Sonu Nigam…

i’ve been watching for long time “the show of star voice of india”. me and my family in bangladesh we were really amazed by the show, the contestants, the way they sing. but it’s been disappointing as rise some questions of purity of the show. toshi is being eliminated-that’s not the reason; the reason is the way he is being pushed or kicked of, keeping some questions in mind, whether the drama was needed or not. i’m not underestimating other contestants but it is disgrace for the producer, director, editor and others who are willingly or not willingly(?) have made this show a farce.
Anusha’s analysis was very pertinent and put matters in the right perspective. Records are meant to be broken and the fact thet they get broken does not lower the reputation of the person who established it in the first space. To be very practical, growth is a never ending process and it is seen in all aspects of life. In the earlier days, sports records were having a much higher time than what it is today. But this does not mean that the early athelets were useless. They were all good in their own way. Likewise, prodigies come in every era and what keeps them apart is their unique way of showcasing their talent. We had the likes of Saigal, Talat Mehmood and then Lata, Kishore, Mukesh and many others - all maestros in their own right. Some good, some very good and the rest superb. But to think that another Lata or Rafi or Kishore cannot be born is rather ban immature conclusion.
To narrow this down to our present day ASVOI, there have been many good singers. Amongst them, some of them were talent wise not very good, but perfectly suited for playback and more importantly saleable voices which can get the maximum moolah for the record labels. ASVOI tends to go for such voices, because at the end of the day, they need to make money. Singers like Toshi or for that matter Prantik Sur are all fabulous singers, but when it comes to saleability, they are at a disadvantage. Toshi has been a very unique singer and could have a lot of work. The present trio who have made it to the last three are at max, saleable singers. But talent wise they do not match the technical excellence of singers like Toshi, Priyani and a few who were out before the last twelve. And to compare these two groups is not the right way to assess their talent.Anyway, good luck to the remaining trio.

I am only talking about the format of this show, since am a finance person, I just see things monetary wise keeping the emotions and sentiments aside…. for your info, Except one or two, I have heard all Toshi songs more than 10,000 /- times, because everytime am free I just login and here his voice… I wanted him to win, but always remember ” A person should not get what he want, he should get what he deserves”
May be this guy deserves more than what we are expecting… so just move on with your life..

He is spectacular in this song. I don’t think anyone can sing it the way he has done. Oh my God! I must have heard Toshi’s version a hundred times and still can’t get over that breathless feeling. What an insult to music to have this great voice eliminated. But I am sure that after some time, we will be having a laugh at the expense of the show and the critics when he becomes a great singing sensation.
Definetely his best performance ever, and perhaps the greatest one of the season. Mindblowing, sad to see him go.
Its sad that in India not many albums get released like in Pakistan. Irfan and Toshi’s albums would do nicely.

Performance and rendition par excellence. Toshi’s sur, taal and Urdu diction is marvellous. Where else cud one find not only the audience who gave him a standing ovation but also the mentor judges and the guest judges. And the guest judge who is an accomplished music director getting on the stage even while the performance was still going on.
Well we also have Toshi bashers also in the US like moi’who has no knowledge of the Urdu language whatsoever (hes the one who said that)yet claims to be a critic. Shame on ya.

Jatin and Aadesh shrivastav was very partial and biased towards Harshit though Toshi had a everything which a complete singer should have.
We think Toshi is the only Voice of India.
Its all drama that had been shown on TV during the elimination of VOI.
They wanted Harshit to be in the final and every time Harshit brought her so called Dadi and emotionally win the voting of the public but when he was in final her Dadi disappeared and her glamourous mom and healthy and wealthy dad came into the picture. what a shittt….!!!

First I would like to congratulate India to have a singer like “TOSHI”, He is the one who born in centuries. Indian needs to be proud on this unique voice, who is capable to sing all sort of songs. I will also thanks VOI who provide this first step to this great voice, and all the people around the world who supports him in this contest.
I must say he is the treasure “KOH-E-NOOR” of India, and everyone need to care him. GOD bless him and protect him from all the incidents, like one which occur few days earlier with him in Mumbai.

I think Toshi is better than Nusrat fateh. he can sing any song with full of music effects. he can do in singing. All VOI participants are kid in fornt of him. Toshi is one of the best singer in India

my god after nusrat saab he is the only one woh can sing that song and hs has proved in the live show suru ka badshah the voice of world has gone i can.t stop my tears its totally unfair every body knows but what we can do this is the fix show in the favour of harshit but oer voi is toshi now voi has finished
DASHED HOPES OF PEPLE Toshi is one of those people who are specially gifted by God.I hoped that Toshi would have the victory in the great war of singing.
Jatin and Aadesh shrivastav was very partial and biased towards Harshit though Toshi had a everything which a complete singer should have.
We think Toshi is the only Voice of India.
Its all drama that had been shown on TV during the elimination of VOI.
They wanted Harshit to be in the final and every time Harshit brought her so called Dadi and emotionally win the voting of the public but when he was in final her Dadi disappeared and her glamourous mom and healthy and wealthy dad came into the picture. what a shittt….!!!
But I am happy that Ishmeet is the winner b’coz if not toshi then no one has got right to win VOI.
i would say he is nothing compare to NFAK,, those who think might have forgot the voice of Nusrat so go and listen NFAK first,,
