Toshi sings Dard E Disco
First, I can not believe Javed Akhtar wrote a song with title ‘Dard E Disco’. Now I will agree with my grandma when she says that ‘Kalyu hai ye Kalyug’. I mean….. first we have pathetic script writing for the show and now this kind of song? BTW, it’s a song from the movie ‘Om Shanti Om’.
And yes, we learn that Gaji only cares for money. Just before Toshi’s performance, they show that Shaan is sitting on a bike (No, I am not kidding here) and telling us all how awesome this bike is. It’s really getting difficult for me not to swear on this site. I think I will control myself.

Frankly, I did not enjoy this performance by Toshi (I am a big fan of his).
The music score by the band on SVOI was appaling for this song.. You should have seen the performance by Raja on the same song couple of weeks back on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. You would know the difference!
I hope Toshi will perform better in future and live up to India’s expectations, and also hope SVOI doesnt have to make such stupid themes to improve their TRP.
It was a very average performance and he was going off a few times. On the whole a very average episode and poor selection of songs.
This is the best that Toshi can do folks! Yes, the whole episode was bland, and all of the songs were bland. But that does not change anything, Toshi is very limited in his ability and it is now coming out.
This is why Abhaas and Pryani is selected to tour North Amarica in the near future. Plans are just starting here in Canada, and New York.
Apparently, someone in Goa is also going to ask Abhaas to cut a classical CD later on.
I agree with the average performance analysis. Toshi dedicated more effort and concentration in doing ‘ray ga ma pa’ in the song (which is not the part of original song) than actually singing the song. And his voice did crack at occasions. I wonder if he has a sour throat or something! not the perfect time for this!
I think he does have a sore throat… thats somewhat the thing Jatinji said, that his voice is not doing well
On the other hand, I really didnt like this performance. I don’t like the song very much either. I guess Toshi might have performed better had his voice been 100 percent.

Toshi is a good singer but he has a long way to go before he could reach anywher …..even if he wins (because of the fan follwoing) he will not go any where untill he improves the quality of the voice for playback singing ….if he wins he will be known as just another singer nuthing more then that ! ….GOd bless all the contestants !
I disagree that Toshi is limited in his singing…though Im a huge fan of his, I think to due, apart from the preformance he gave when Sonu Nigam was there, this was his worst, WFT was the song..??and who choses the songs..??
I disagree that he is a limited singer..I think he is talented singer..what I dont get is whts all the hate abt now..?? Why are ppl dissing him all of a sudden, can ppl not handle his rise back to stardom, its just frustating to see ppl bag such a talented singer, even though he may not be great, you have to admit that he has talent and with grooming he would become GREAT..
AS for Abhas and Priyani getting contracts, well I guess only time will tell and I guess Ill just have to wait and see if their cds ever come to New Zealand..
I think either way Toshi will make it….I hear Mahesh Bhatt has already signed him…??..no wonder Toshi smiles so much these days !!!

One of the worst episodes… doesnt seem like a singing competition anymore.. just some chaos and noise.. none of the singers r singing as well as when they had auditioned..
I really hope that they take ’singing’ seriously and just fire the scriptwriter… shit… waiting for an episode here in NY, and this is what i get to hear..
Toshi! this man does try to add something to every song he sings..I really admire him for that..but, honestly, a sargam for Dard-e-Disco…No way! it is a fool’s song..
Well I heard it in some interview, that Javed Saab has written this for the character who portrays the role of a hero within the film..there is a film within a film..So?? That does not give you a licence to write unintelligent lyrics..
Between Raja and Toshi, there have been days when they outperformed each other..And I like hearing both of them..Remember, they are on different shows and it appears that SVOI does not really give a free hand to its singers..Amanat from SRGMP sang Tujhse Naraaz nahi in the semi finals..I don’t think you would be allowed to sing anything but rap/disco in VOI…SRGMP made it difficult for singers by introducing the Ghazal/Semi-Classical based episode..Here all they are concerned about it is bidaai, bike and amul tricone!
I now feel Toshi would have made his mark even without getting back on this show..I don’t like to see a singer of his caliber singing crap!
J, I am not swearing on this site because we have songs like Teri Deewani, Kachche Dhaage and Satyam Shivam Sundaram..But nonetheless, I appreciate your efforts on this site…On second thoughts, let us switch to SRGMP and start a similar site..Maybe next season, you know where to put in your efforts..

1st of all i want to say a big thanks to you… i keep myself updated with VOI this way, and u made me write a post (for the 1st time in my life)…i’ve really no words for your priceless efforts for this site.. i truly believe that u have wonderful sense of music, and keeps “RUCHI” in the best..and greatly unbiased… so we match tht way….the script in VOI is hopeless..the reasons for the show being unnecessarily dragged on…is so ridiculous..i wish i could follow Saregamapa from the start..but i was unfortunate enough to see tht from just 2 months back.. and believe me, i feel its worth all our time.. i wish Amanat wins..he’s a versatile guy… yea, music means we have to learn all our life..so there’s chance for improvin..but some are God gifted…so they stand a chance ahead than the rest.. , wel here.. my choice is Toshi.. followed by Irfan…coz i believe their music is from the soul… and they have sound knowledge in music.. Abhas is good, but still carrying immature voice..Harshit is good…but I dont like his attitude towards others…and i believe that if your a good human, your soul will be pure..so is your singing.. i live my dreams thru these good talented guys…abt the gals.. i think its time for them to say byes… Of all the shows.. i feel, Poonam ( from saregamapa) was the best..so much so, tht she could win the title.. but here.. i dont think i’m impressed by any… Simply to get more money, they pulled in Priyani.. and they called all those people thru wild card, for whom the Janata voiced.. as they fear these people will stop voting.. how stupid!!!
The epsiode was really so boring I didn’t watch the whole show but all that I could watch was Agni’s performances but I dont know why I didn’t like them at all just because of songs actually there is no problem with singers the problem is with songs…….and for toshi I must say he can sing anything as he is a trained singer but in the last episode I must say there was a problem in his throat plz listen this song carefully I think u will also realize that toshi was not singing in his real voice because of his throat problem…his voice is superb really I must say that…. TOSHI U R REALLY GREAT

About public voting… anyone recalls what happened to “American Idol” this last season? We had acknowledgements of thousands of 13 yr old girls voting for a loser because of his looks and a sense of rebelliousness against the system. This voting system does not work, because the results do not emerge from good sound logic. Heck, even the judges are substandard.

If you can’t stand the heat stay out of the kitchen. No one is unecessarily bashing Toshi. Read what the music experts are writing. As a point of correction, Toshi is not smiling a lot these days!!! Reality is emerging when experts can talk about his limited range of capabilities.
I am not singling anyone out as a winner. I appreciate all of the contestants, but there are people out there making claims about Toshi’s talents, when He indeed has very little rage to his talents.
The reason why certain contestants are sought after in North America, is that expert digital analysis of their singing can identify whether they can sustain their singing ability for the long term, or whether they are expected to fizzle out within 3-5yrs.
Toshi is expected to fizzle out soon, and the people who want to invest their money will always go for the proof - and the technical proof is available.

To HARESH … if Toshi’s voice is gonna fuzzle out within 3-5 years … then let me asure u that 3 or 5 years are enough for a a singer like toshi to be a legend … as far as I concern digital analysis can only analyze sound evidence but not his biological condition … so plz vote for a real talent.

I work in field of digital analysis of music and there are no means to determine who is a better singer by any advanced digital means…
Also, if you are trying to compare Toshi’s voice with some contestant from SRGMP, please do not do that based on the videos uploaded on the net…do it on the original videos on TV.

I have a suggestion for all those who are trying to write off Toshi…Close your eyes and listen to some of his past performances (except the last one…C’mon everyone has a bad day…and Toshi had a throat problem…Can you imagine how Harshit would have sounded if he had any such problem?)
I don’t know if you have ever noticed, Harshit always sings popular songs…which people like even if the voice quality is not very great!
On the hand, the songs that Toshi has sung so far, I don’t remember when I heard them before unless when Toshi sang…

All those who felt TOSHI isnt a good enough singer,i completely disagree.I feel very stongly about his singing,i think he is just too SUPERB!God must protect him and make him a great star as he deserves so much more, he is a pure heart soul and has the most amazing voice. Toshi is the best singer im sure anyone will agree…..whoever knows a bit of music will just love his voice and his style!! So its not a big sin to have a bad throat and to not be able to sing well due to a real problem! Toshi is so good in his singing that he should never be judged on this alone .remember how Harshit forgot a big part of the song and NO-ONE ,mind u , noone ever wrote or said anything very negative about it .they actually ignored the situation and gave positive look to Harshit.Why such a superb singer like TOSHI is judged so much specially when he is the best and he is not even getting his due sometimes.but as i said, you need to all vote for him to keep him around so please do not forget this very talented voice of Toshi do remember to vote for him.thanks.

in response to what rahul said i would like to state that raja hasan had entire musical support..that is backing vocals etc..he was not singing witha live band in that song..plus toshi’s throat was infected..if you want to compare watch raja’s dil nai lagda..n then watch toshi’s you will find the answer.

Well done Toshi, You deserve to be VOI no question abt it. All the contestant in VOI is good but you are much much far away with the comparison with them. You have voice which sounds to be a singer voice which will reckon you same like abhijit,sonu,himesh ,aadesh in near future.
You have a depth in the voice and quality of the voice.
Whenever you come on tv my kids jumps n says see “TOSHI UNCLE”.we have very good memories of your wen u sung a song for SON “PRIYAM” on his birthday 03.09.2007 at jai Club, Jaipur.
