Sumitra sings(?) Bahoon Ke Darmiyaan

Date: September 30, 2007  Category: 29th September, Sumitra

Next we have Sumitra on stage and she tells that she is not sure if she wants to sing.

I have been noticing that lately she has lost interest from the competition and today she declared it. Obviously, she did not say that she has lost interest, she just made some excuse that she doesn’t want to sing. Anyway, Sanjya requests her to sing mukhda and she sings Bahoon Ke Darmiyaan without any music. It was interesting that none of the judges from Prithvi team and Agni team said anything to Sumitra. I guess she is right to realize that she doesn’t stand much chance when each of the judges have their own favorites and she is not in the list.

Well, Sumitra, I really like your voice and you have given some fantastic performances! It must have been difficult for you to pursue this challenge even though your parents were not supportive and you had to leave your job. I really salute your courage and wish you all the good luck! [And I wish I knew you when you were in Infosys!]

I fully agree with her. It is clearly established from the judges’ comments that each one have their own favorites and Sumitra doesn’t get any support from the Judges and so is Ishmeet. Abhijeet’s comment in the last episode when Sumitra, Abilasha and Ishmeet were in the bottom three, that out these three one should have been eliminated long back clearly shows. It is not clearly understood whether you want voice of India or voices of India. Voice of India means only one should be selected., whereas voices of India can be many. Here after each elimination judges comment that he/she should have not have been eliminated. Infact, they don’t want any one to be eliminated and hence they have kept a wild card entry. Then who will be the voice of India?

sumitra wasn’t justiced by the judges….she wasn’t encouraged enough…..all the judges had their own favourites but she was left alone ……nd i feel dat she was judicious regarding her voice nd her ability…..to sing nd shaan managed to support her……

    Hi,

    Agree with you.

    Sumitra is the ONLY contestant who stood purely on her talent - no wrenching for sympathy; no poverty; no dadima; no crying parents; no villagers’ support; no judge support; no age factor to boast;

Just pure strength. That’s what i call real strength.

And what is VOI - that is not the only platform to bring out singers. Sumitra should fight on and prove the judges wrong, who had no words to say. I think all they want is these budding singers fall at their feet at every trigger.

Abhilasha is unfarily on stage despite 2 mistakes, else it would have been Sumitra among Final 4.

now the Judges are only doing favourtism no one is encouraging.for us she is WINNER much better than the ABILASHA.

Sumitra is the true winner on VOI, she played by the book and only show-cased her outstanding talent. Not once did she use the sympathy card during the competition and she was very graceful too after she was eliminated.

When Toshi & Ahbaas were eliminated Jatin & Alka made so much of noise and when Sumitra was eliminated they were hardly bothered …Jatin & Alka should be ashamed of their biased attitude, they never supported her open-heartedly inpsite of her brilliant performances week after week.

    Good Luck !

I really admire Sumitra on how she accepted her elimination with grace. Sumitra has self-respect and is very mature. I feel that’s why she did not sing after being eliminated. She has been dignified throughout. During the selection of 12 contestants, when Alka Yagnik asked her to sing, she sang without hesitation saying an artist should always be ready to display his/her art/performance.

As judges have pointed out once, she chose difficult songs most of the times. She has been very brilliant!

I totally agree and like to criticise Jatin Pandit on his biased atttude towards Sumitra when Abhas got eliminated. Really its depressing to see Abilasha especially at her place.

I feel so sorry for Sumitra. Besides being talented she was the most dignified & self-respected contestant who only relied on her singing ability & not once pleeded for sympathy votes. Even with the Parents special episode her parents were the most dignified among the whole lot. I think she is equally intelligent of not wanting to sing immediately after being eliminated as she didn’t have time for rehearsal with the musicians. I don’t think she has any chance of coming back as wild card entry but I sincerly hope one day she should make it to the top as talent hunt these days means nothing. I totally agree with all of your views about the judges being biased and all but I just like to mention that she got little bit support from Abhijit after the elimination. On another note I completely agree with Abhijit as Ishmeet should have been eliminated long time before (after Prantik & Prantika).

sumitra’s performance is actually very good
but i think she never get any support from judges.
every time she choose a difficult song to sang.
even if she is not won the title of VOI.
But she never stops her fight.she bcomes very great talent of our india

I totally agree Sumitra never used any sympathy cards & went ahead on her singing ability. However it was disappointing to see Sumitra being eliminated . She has given most enjoyable & difficult performances on the stage. Her performance ” Dil de diya” from the movie phir hera pheri was mind blowing. Even kunal ganjewala said ” Tha’s the voice of India for me”. I think It should have been Abhilasha instead of Sumitra. Abhilasha has managed to get so many votes bcoz judges support her so much. but according to me she is the worst singer of the entire show.

Sumitra is so talented, because as Jatin Pandit on his biased atttude towards Sumitra when Abhas got eliminated, she was not expressed so much. Abhilasha is nothing mattar for her thats luck factor. But we never forget to ” Nihira Joshi” she got elimineted as of 5th participant from SAREGAMAPA2005 and where is she now….. ” she is on the top than other 4 participant. Means hard working is very important and sumitra is prove that because she got 5th place even if nobudy ( judges ) support to her.. so guys ( specially sumitra ) remember ” JISKA KOI NAHI HOTA HAI USAKA UPARVALA HOTA HAI”….. BEST LUCK

I agree with the comments of everybody else. That Sumitra deserved a lot more. She has conducted herself with a lot of dignity. The judges clearly have favorites and she was never one among them. It’s a tribute to her talent that she reached the top 5 on the strength of her own brilliant performances.
Are the judges sensing her potential and do not want to encourage her.. especially Alka Yagnik.. is she feeling threatened…
I wish Sumitra all the best and pray that The Almighty crowns her efforts with success.
