Ishmit sings O Yaar Dhol Bajake
Finally we have Ishmit on stage and he sang ‘O Yaara Dhol Bajake’ from the movie ‘Dhol.’ Wow, even though I like Ishmit’s voice a lot, his voice was completely unsuitable for this song! I don’t think he has that ‘khula’ and ‘powerful’ voice of a Punjabi. [Just listen to Daler Mehndi or Sukhwinder Singh] Do you agree with me? OR am I uttering some nonsense?
And yes, listen to Ishmit’s vote appeal. Really interesting.

I agree. Ishmit voice totally lacked the ‘masti’ and ‘josh’ that is intrinsic element for any such song. He has a sweet voice, should select something more suited next time.
honestly speaking, I was so shocked to see him getting such high marks. His voice so so weak in this song.
I dont understand why he had to bring his headteacher on the stage and someone holding a ‘photograph’ of their prophet or something..
This is so ridiculous!! It doesnt seem like a music contest any more .. more like a regional contest!
May be they should run on local election, that might be a better choice for Ishmeet for his city!

Completely agree with you on that! Been saying that from day 1 that Ishmit doesn’t have the voice/energy for fast tracks or songs which are supposed to get you bouncing on your feet. He can only sing slow and calm songs. The best part are his facial expressions though, when he sings or tries the fast tracks. Seems like a little more pressure and his face will explode (wish it would!).

all other singers have a zeal to perform..even if they ultimately sing well or not..But I find him sleepy and lousy on stage..kya bhai! koi josh hi nahi!
Prantik aroused him a bit in Khalbali..Prantik anyday is better than Kishmish..
Sukhbir has gt his kinda voice and ve given grt perfrmnces!

Ishmeet was worst of all on 6th..but look what he got from Daler Mehendi (8 where Irfan, Priyani, Abhilasha got 7 from him). This is just pathetic. I don’t get the point why they had to bring “Guru Nanak” photo on the stage. It has nothing to do with music. This show becoming a circus and i feel pity for Gajji…
I was watching some videos of SRGMP after JD suggested watching Amanat’s latest performance. And those performances really impressed me. I only saw Amanat and Sumedha’s songs (most/all of them) and I can say without a doubt that if they were on VOI they’d beat most of the contestants here. I’d put them on par with Abhaas, Toshi and Harshit only. But I think when you consider song diversity and voice quality Amanat is anyone in VOI. Lucky for VOI contestants Amanat is from Dubai and is in SRGMP.
So yea my point in the above post was that SRGMP is much more focused on singing than unnecessary antics, and have a better set of performers all together. (Dont know about anyone other than Amanat/Sumedha) Guys like Kishmish (thats what he should be called - weak and flimsy lol) wouldn’t cut anywhere near those singers.
And as for the comment that Sukhbir has a similar voice and has put out hit songs - well that’s coz Sukhbir has the energy for fast tracks and they suit him very well. Kishmish here seems to pulling his last breath everytime he gets on the mic.

and for the people u who dont know the name of the sikh guru(prophet)it SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI.
and till when the racism against sikhs is gona happen.pls if u cant give good wishes atleast dont give them bad wishes.
the boy sings alright dont support in the way that he is the best.
but last week how abhijit said that he got the sms he should have found out who is it and should not said it on the stage thats letting the singer down,
in one way they are saying that u are indian and not sikh and then again they said that tell your sikh brothers not to do this insted they should have requested themselves.
thats made ishmit loose his confidence if he loose many fans from sydney will stop looking at the programme.

I am really sorry if I offended you with my earlier comment. When it comes to music I only don’t want consider anything else other than music. I don’t support the way Abhijit-ji & Adeshji spoke to Ishmeet 2 weeks back and neither i support the way “Guru Nankji’s” photo brought onto the stage. I really wonder why and what’s the point of Starplus’s showing glimpses of contestants doind puja/ arti or praying in the mosque. This has nothing to do with music. If they want to add the time they can show how these singers practice or do riaz. It would been much appreciated then. Anyway, let’s stop the racism debate and we will only talk about music.

I totally agree with your view on Amanat & Sumedha. But Raja, Aneek & Punam are equally good. The top 5 contestants of Challenge 2007 is way ahead of VOI’s. Zee is relying much more on music itself. Other than Himesh’s intolerable behaviour this show is much much better.

As far as racial discrimination is concerned, this is what I have to say. Punjabis are known to have that extra enthusiasm in them! That extra masti in them and that extra joy and energy which simply flows from their demeanor. All the Punjabi singers have shown that and you take any example. But in the case of Ishmeet, he appears to be in a sleep. Look at Toshi or Irfan or Raja and Amanat from SRGMP for that matter. These guys sing as if their life depends on that song. That is the kind of love you should have for the song.
Ishmeet, it appears to me, really knows his limitations as a singer when compared to other participants. And he also knows that he is piggybacking on the Punjab da Puttar ride and that is why he is still in this show. This only adds to his lack of self confidence when he sings.
As far as the judges and their eccentric behavior, the lesser said the better. Ishmeet cannot do anything if some crazy supporters sms some stupid message to these judges. But Ishmeet dear, hold yourself until the show ends or for God’s sake go out of the room if you feel like crying when you are not even eliminated. It looks really ugly when you cry in front of the camera when you have been just assured that you are safe and sound in surakshachakra. Think of how much it would have hurt singers of caliber like Toshi or Poonam from SRGMP to be eliminated because the votes are being directed to singers of less capability
Come on Ishmeet, enjoy yourself on the stage and with the song as long as you are on VOI, even though your presence may not be justified!
Try to recognise the soul of Abhas he is the same our beloved kishore kumar … its diff and impossible to recongnise but my heart say he is the same come again..
First of all…you say that it was unnecessary to bring Guru Nanak dev’s picture on stage, I completely agree to that as in Sikhism there is no idol worship so it doesn’t make sense, but then if you think about it, he was a great musician himself so he did have heaps to do with music. But to add to that, if you say that music is about music an not religion or anything like that, then what was the need of bringing the statue of saraswati and giving it to all the participants by rani mukherjee, Especially to people who don’t believe in idol worship. And as far as judges are concerned, they are the biggest hypocrites of all time….on hand they call him Punjab da putter and in the sms controversy they were saying that we don’t like to differentiate, if that’s the case y don’t they call him India da puttar.
And as far as his style is concerned….every person has their own style of music. Even in Punjab, there are singers who are loud and sing party songs and then there are others who sing sad and soft songs and there are others who sing all sort of songs….You should not base his singing on the fact that he is from Punjab and he should sing loud…he really sings all the songs well….he sings them from his heart….

on 1 hand in Punjabthere is daler mehendi , sukhwinder who sing with energy n zeal …. on the other hand punjab also has another gem opposite to them I>E> gazal maestro …Jagjit Singh …
if u ask jagjit singh to singh that song of dhol … he may also seem like the same as ishmeet. …!!!!
its correct that he should hav seen some other song … but u cannot put him down by saying that he is not a good singer …!!!
