Actual Wild Card Round Winners
Last week, I posted an entry titled ‘Wild Card Winners’ but those were actually not the winners of wild card round. They were the chosen 4 by the respected guest judges. Then we find that Abhaas was vetoed in by Jatin and Sumitra was also given a chance to perform again and we had Sawariya special last week.
Thanks to the reader Parvaiz from Pakistan, we have news that Toshi, Priyani and Abhaas have been selected from the group which performed last week. It looks like there will be selection of 2 from this 3. Originally they said that only one person will be selected from wild card round. I don’t get where the show is headed.
Wait. I actually do. I think Gaji wants to extend this show so that the competing show SRGMP gets over (only 3 more weeks to go I believe) and everyone will head over to Star Voice Of India and when show will have Top 3 contestants and hopefully people will get hooked on. Anyway, as a regular follower of VoI, I am kind of getting tired with some of this nonsense. I really miss the original SRGMP hosted by Sonu, where there was absolute focus on singing and nothing else. I wish I had recorded all those videos back then. One can dream.

I wish toshi comes in. By the way saregamapa will finish on 13th of october,the grand finale is held then. I wish the final of VOI should be between Toshi and Irfan. If one person out of them wins,i would be very hapy
If the news of 3 singers getting selected is true, I agree with you ‘J’. It is either a desperate attempt of Star Plus (Gajji) to compete with SRGMP (which I think is much better in terms of the singers or the show or the content) or he has been bitten by the Ekta Kapoor Serials Syndrome bug where there is no end of almost anything…but a complex new beginning of everything after a dramatic end!
I wonder what will this drame do the mindsets of the contestants…they all have been on tenterhooks for so long. A confirmed and final exit would be much easier to deal with then an entry and a re-entry and an exit and a re-exit…
Gajender singh and others Judges r doing dectatorship. Whoever they like,they keep them. We r in Delhi are realy shocked that why Aspreet and Prantika not getting entry in the wild card? No doubt that the two r the best female singer among three channels. Gajender Singh and Judges mind it. OK.
Ms Juhi from Delhi very vesry corectly said. We r fully supporting on her views. Injustice with two girls,[ Aspreet and Prantika]Very bad thigs r happening in VOI. Starplus be careful. Don’t do like dectatorship.
I’m glad that Abhaas is in. But disappointed that Arshpreet hasn’t made it inspite of 2 fab performances. I agree with you,J, Sonu’s Sa Re Ga Ma was a genuine talent hunt show as opposed to any of the current shows. Focus was on singing alone whereas shows today compete with each other at the expense of the public.
well im not really worried about judgement…im happy that i’ll be listening to some more good songs if there are more episodes…i wish that Toshi and Abhas sings few more heart touching songs…and i’ll be happy.
No I dont agree with u guys that SRGMP is better than VOI. SRGMP may have glamour but VOI is surely having the talent.Toshi is the greatest invention of the music industry. And if the Director is dragging the episodes what is problem? In fact I feel that hearing the great talents is a fun for us.
TRust me..this show will not end untill the winner is someone whom judges alwasy wanted to win. If judges favourite contenst is voted out..again some will be back untill they win…!!!Disgusting show….!!!

Talking about old Saregama videos..
I have plenty of them recorded .. would say about 200 shows from the time Sonu Nigam was hosting it.. dating back to the time when Amanat Ali’s Dad won Saregama..
Amongst all these shows I have seen.. I must say that little Abhrokanti’s rendition of “Poochh Na Kaise Maine Rayn Bitayee” and “Teri Deewani” are truly SPINE TINGLING… and to think the guy got eliminated from SAREGAMAPA little champs!
Going down memory lane.. Suraj from Kashmir was also very good…
There have been many good singers..
But Abhrokanti and Toshi are the standouts..
they have that special “hindustani touch”. The ability to take music beyond entertainment while still holding you spell bound.
May their talent spread far and wide for all to enjoy..
All of us should be happy that Toshi is in.and VOI will be Toshi 2nd Irfan.
I am also surpirsed that Ashpreet did not make it She has a good voice quality. I definately agree that the judges are biased and make comments to influence the mass media (Ishmeet)voting.
I hope Toshi and Irfan win. Irfan has of late being singing really well.
Thosi,Priyani and abhas if they win the VOI title they should embarased. One should not forget that…rule is a rule….!!!! I really apprecite sumitra’s comments during the wild card round.In deed she was right in saying..”if she need to sing again or not..” Hats off to you..!!!Judges are very immature(abhijeet should be sent to kinder garden).
SVOI-2007 is a goof-up of all times …
1. No wild-card included in the pre-format of the show
2. Biased and unprofessional judges introduce wild-card
3. Only one contestant was supposed to be picked from 7
4. An already tampered format was comprised again by selecting 2 out of 7 instead of 1 out of 7
5. Oops, cry baby does it again … his favorite is not picked in the top 4 out of 7 … he goes hammer & tongs by further abusing the guidelines by introducing veto-power from no where
What next ?
The judges, organisers and Gajendra should be ashamed for their shorting comings this season.
They should revert back to the original format of judges picking the winner !
I’ve lost interst now - i no longer wait for VOI to come …
1st of all they need to kik Ishmeet out …replace him with Ashpreet coz she is much better than him… Why don’t they Use VETO there .. Drives me Mad
Oh well fudge it … its not like we have a say in this … so lets just get on with life … either you watch the show or you don’t …

Agree that the older SAREGAMA was better.. the contestants were good, they were judged on talent (and not the region that they come from), they were judged by greats like Khayaam, Naushaad, OP Nayyar, et al. And the show was just too good..
@Zaki - can you please upload the videos somewhere of the older episodes… I miss them a lot.. I still miss the Saregama Grand Finale with singers like Mohd. Vakil, Mukund, Parthiv, Sanjeevani, Sudeshna, Bela, etc.

i just saw clips from this upcoming voi episode, and they showed that one spot was already given out and the other spot went down between priyani and abhaas. Im hoping that one spot went to toshi
i stay in US and used to wait egarly for voice of India but after the wild card stuff started, i dont know why i just started hating it. i mean its just unfair. think about the top 4. there was 1 to join and now they have THREE. What would that alka tell if someone from the top 4 gets out next week. ???

Yeah interesting food for thought..but see where we are today..from fab 4 to super 7! so I guess we will definitely have a prolonged season this year..Most of them will cover for the “loss” of weeks..

Yeah Prem…There will never be any elimination in this show..It will fall into an infinite loop…
