इंडिया के सैट पर
शादी का गाना गाकर जो हंगामा खड़ा कर दिया . “आभास की उम्र १७ साल जानते हुए अलका जीं का उसके लिए शादी का इश्तहार जारी करना आभास का छज्जे पर खडे होके छोरी की तलाश के लिए चीखना !!” इस ख़बर से मुम्बई में ३ महीने रहने वाले
बडे भाई श्रेयश ने फ़ोन पर बताया “चचा ! इसने तो मुम्बई आकर नाटक शुरू कर दिए शादी के लिए बावला हो रहा है ” फोन सुनकर मेरा
क्रोध सातवे आस्मां पे, भाई जितेन्द्र भी ग़ुस्से में थे इतने कि पानी का एक गिलास मुँह में लगाया , जब मुँह से हटाया तो उनके दांत स्टील के उस गिलास में बने थे .
पापा रविन्द्र जीं की मिली भगत से आभास शादी के लिए उतावला था हम को शक था जो सही निकला .
वे हम सभी को देख के हँसे जा रहे थे.
अब मेरी बारी थी मामले को निपटाने की … सो मैने आभास को “बाल विवाह प्रतिषेध अधिनियम १९२९ के तहत कार्रवाई करने की धमकी भरा एस.एम्.एस. किया आभास को .
आभास ने तुरंत काल बैक किया .
“चाचा मुझे मालूम है कि आप बाल विकास अधिकारी हैं.! सोचा था मामला दबा देंगे ?”
मैने उसे फटकारा -”भैये कानून की नज़र में सब एक बराबर हैं…समझा देना अलका जीं को ओर सभी को कि बाल विवाह करने,कराने उसमें भाग लेनें वाले सभी अपराधी होते हैं…….”
दूसरी तरफ आभास की रिरियाती आवाज़ सुनाई दे रही थी ..!
“हाँ चाचा..नहीं चचा..!!”
फोन बंद करते ही फोन फिर बजा .. श्रेयश का फोन था
“क्या हुआ चचा…?
मैंनें उसे बताया..”भाई तुम जैसे बडे भाई के होते आभास शादी अब नहीं कर सकता
मैंने फटकार लगा दीं है उसे ”
आभास को फटकार सुनकर श्रेयष बेहद खुश हुआ यह जानकर कि आभास की छोरी खोजने का अभियान
४ साल बाद के लिए टल गया बडे भाई के लिए इससे बेहतर बात और क्या होगी !!

Awesome superb performance of the SVOI whole Episode .. He is not beatable he has voice control and quality .. No doubt Toshi, Ishmeet and harshit is also gud but Abhaas is No words …. he deserve to be VOI . but … let c next 2 or 3 episod . wht gonna happens .. best of luck ABhaas
this song’s actual title is “JAAN-E-JAAN” from bhansali’s new movie Saawariya orignally sung by kunal ganjawala..and wow, DID abhaas just make this sound even better !!

after watching this performance i was really wondering that how come a guy who is just 17 years old can sing this better i mean abhaas always sing in detail .. he carry every single detail of song pitch simply awesome diya was totaly flattered front of him … in fact any girl could go flat if abhaas sings like this abhaas u r voice of india for me dude .. keep it up!! and if u become VOI then irfan’s elimination is justified.
Abhaas needs to know that he is the best, regardless of who wins this contest. There are so many unfair things about this contest, like politics, and the fact that in some areas people don’t have phones to vote.

You are correct, sir! What a pleasant thing it is to come here to read about Abhaas. He is certainly the best. All of the performers are good - it is the fans who spoil it with their behavior.
To keep it all positive, I wish everyone the best of luck, but I must say, I respect Abhaas and do want him to win.

Gosh. he is the best! Purity in his voice is his greatest asset. He immerses himself in the song effortlessly. It is his years of hard work that get reflected in his singing. Unfortunately, he suffers a set back because religious sentiments at times take over our decision making. But never mind, his life won’t end with the end of the show. He will move on!!

Abhaas has a gift from GOD and there is no other words to describe his talent. Personally I felt that he sang it better than the ORIGINAL. Listen to his performance and the original back to back and you’ll realize that he destroyed the original singer in terms of voice quality and over singing performance.
Diya Mirza used the word “FLAWED”…you could tell she was genuinely FLAWED since she ain’t that great an actress. LOL

Abhaas is an outstanding singer, much much better than some of the contemporary singers in the Hindi film world. He never ceases to amaze me and everytiem he sings in an new episode i fall for him all over again. As someone has said ion these columns, many of us watch SVOI just for listening to Abhaas.
I have been reading messgae posted on this website the last few weeks and can see the Toshi-crazy fraudelent fans who seem to be extreme fanatics.
I am somehow very glad that though Abhaas has a much fewer fan-following than Toshi, the ones that have stuck to him are extremely sincere and are constrained in their remarks. And one more thing, there has never been any ‘hate’ mails about Abhaas. It is these sincere prayers from sincere fans (in the form of mails) who will ensure that he pulls through and gets to the driver’s seat in the Chevrolet.
Raji, you just made the most sincere remark there has been on this website. I could write a page or twoin respnse to some of the comments made, but I refrain from doing so because I know the readers are from a place where Himesh reshamiya has disgracefully become a legend. To come out and sing lata mangeshkar, mohd rafi’s and kishore kumar with such passion and dedication is truly a work of a pure artist. Like sanjay leela bhansali himself said: “Abhass is a Genius” and needs to be stood up for.
P.s. i also like toshi, he’s got a natural charisma in his vocal’s..no doubt.

Vasant - Tum mere Ho is from the movie Saawariya. It has been sung by Kunal Ganjawaala. Aabhas surely has taken the song to a different level. No words for this master blaster! Just hope he gets his due.
TNB, I too am a fan of Toshi but there is an ocean of a difference between Toshi and Abhaas. Toshi puts so much pressure on the song and on himself while singing whilst Abhaas just sails through the song. A classic case of effortless singing! Don’t you agree with me?
Let us just take the case of the last two songs sung by Abhaas……… Tum Mere Ho and Dil Ke Jharoke Mein……….I have never heard the first song before. But all the same, I was mesmerised by his singing. Do you think that Toshi would have done even 50% justice to these two songs?
Anyway, as you have rightly said, let us try and enjoy music for what it is!
well lets just say, abhaas isn’t toshi and toshi isn’t abhaas. but music is very subjective, what sounds good to my ear may not to others. I like good music, that could be from nusrat fateh, sonu, rafi, kishore, jagjit singh etc etc etc…on one side where abhaas could be described as a perfectionist, toshi is spiritual. although he faulters, those don’t count, cuz his sufiana style compensates for those little flaws..but to compare them is like comparing apple and oranges. i enjoy both these guys, but i’m a little more inclned toward abhaas… Although, if i had to choose a winner, i would pick tohi, just because he’s a struggling artist unlike abhaas who’s just 17 and already has a bright future ahead regardless..
TNB, I see your point. But who said that Abhaas is taken care of. My info is that he is from a humble background. Just as I will not judge any contestant on the basis of religion or caste or looks, I also will not judge them based on age. I go strictly on skill.
I really think Abhaas deserves some support.
Hey Harold, i second that…but will your opinion about abhaas change even a tiny bit if he dosen’t grab the title ?? let me tell u, anyone who has a good ear and appreciates quality music will never forget this champ..as a singer myself who wishes to dedicate all his life to music, I look up to this 17 year old prodigy. i’d buy his album in a giffy if it were ever to release. mark my words, this guy is going a long way. I feel bad for contestants like toshi who’re also gifted but are over-rated to such an extent that they would dissappear in thin air someday. I’m sure it wouldn’t happen for singers like abhaas who has a fan following of unbiased music lovers. I sincerely hope and i do have a gut feeling that he’s got some back up. Who wouldn’t want to sign him up, he’s a gem !
Judging from these responses, I’d say you are on your way, sir! Don’t get carried away. Pick the songs to bring out your strength.

reaching a vocal plateau is every singers nightmare. His voice will certainly change, and that too dramatically. But u know what that means ?? see how he mesmerizes us now..picture the same bloke in a couple of years. wow !! i can’t even begin to imagine. when a singers voice matures, its always for the better and that’s what they train so hard for. when it comes to music, sky is the limit !
Sheer curiousity makes me ask this question: Why was Abhaas not selected by the special jury, comprising of Smt. Parveen Sultana and others, to be amongst the Wild Card entrants? Can someone enlighten me?

I am sure the jury would have also listened to the past performances of all Wild Card entrants. It would have been obvious to them that Abhaas had great singing talent and could be a strong contender for the SVOI title.
So why did they not select Abhaas then? It is certainly perplexing…
I am just happy that things are working out well for him now. I hope people vote for Abhaas in large numbers so he could be our Star Voice of India.

Main sochta hoon ki isse badhiya final ho hi nahi sakta. Abhaas aur Harshit, dono apne aap mein oonche sthar ke singers hai.
In dono ke gaye hue geeton ko main har din office jaate samay sunta hoon. Aadat se ho gayi hai.
Abhaas ke geeton mein ek meetha saa dard hai jo bheetar se hila ke rakh deti hai. Harshit bhi badhiya gaata hai, par woh baat nahi jo Abhaas ke presentation mein hai.
Mera yeh vishwas hai ki apna Abhaas hi jeetega…

i was too suprised at their dicision. even if they hadn’t seen his previos performances (some of them being just outstanding) i would think they would select him based on just that one day where he sang kishore’s “ek chatur naar”..it was not only brilliant but probably one of the best. It also had an element of classism and its never easy to sing a duet song. there could be a few reasons behind him not being selectected:
1) Gajendar singh is a entrepreneurial brat..its sad that the future of such amazing talent is in the hands of such a person. I respect him for starting this 15 years ago, but he’s now turning into a money making machine, which never goes hand in hand with an art like music- in which case u need to be selfless. Look how the standards have dropped since the first time he started the show. its become more of a soap opera. which is why i have no emotinoal strings attached to such shows.
but somehow I doubt this could be the reason becuase he wouldn’t go against the judgement of such great personalities and would respect it.
2) Traditional maestro’s such as jagjit singh, khayam, perveen sultana and many others have a mental block when it comes to music. For themn words like “prodigy, wonder-kid” etc etc don’t exist. For them, to be a good artist u need to have a few grey hair. Its a conventional way of thiking.
Obviously, the judges of the show themselves didn’t agree to their selection hence using the veto to bring abhaas back.
I really don’t care if he dosen’t win, and i seriously doubt that he will, knowing what goes on at beind-the-scenes. all i hope for is to listen to a few more mind-blowing performances by the champion.

I know I can count on Abhaas belting out a superhit for each of the last shows. I have come to expect good things from his singing. I don’t know whether his voice will change much over the next few yrs. like some have suggested.

UNIQUENESS OF ABHAAS (apart from his superlative singing!)
1. The only singer in any show on Indian television whose every song has got an encore from the judges (especially Alka Yagnik), compere and audience alike.
2. Shaan never fails to hug him after very song and of course, this is spontaneous!
3. A very good sense of humour with a sense of timing which is in-born. He will make a good comedian too! (likes of Kishore Kumar)
4. He is probably the ony chap who has gotten the guest judges to dance to his song spontaneously. Remember the episode when Govinda was the guest judge! One of his best performances ever!
5. He is probably the only one who takes the liberty of passing witty comments on the show, even at the judges albeit in the most dignified way!
5. In spite of all the accolades showered on him, he still shows humility and down-to-earth attitude on stage. Never stands with his hands in his pockets, as many other do! Accepts defeat well! That speaks of his upbringing.
All these points add up to the quality of his songs!
I am glad that many people have come out in support of Abhaas through these columns!

This is what I have been saying all along! I agree with you. This guy is phenomenal. I don’t know what all the fuss was about that other guy who got eliminated. I never was moved by his voice. Abhaas, however, really touched me.

I hear that the final is going to be telecast on 24th November. Tomorrow (4th) night, there will be a telecast of a program called Reliance STAR Mahotsav at 10 p.m. on STAR Plus. The three SVOI finalists are performing, probably a Diwali Special.
I stay in Pune. I had an opportunity to listen to Abhaas in a live concert on the ocassion of the inauguration of the M.G.Road Walking Plaza in September. He was terrific as usual, in fact, he outdid his singing and performance in this live concert than he does on TV. From 9-year old to 90-year olds, they all went bonkers !!! The other performers Sumitra, Abhilasa and Irfan also sang very well. So, all u people out there, you know what to expect when u go to a
