WOW Abhaas what a brilliant performance and what a brilliant exit. A great combination of voice, training and expression. This is called singing. Full stop. Can’t wait to hear more of you.

    Bless you. AJ

  3. Harold on November 11th, 2007 11:58 am

Abhaas, you ought to be proud of yourself. You are great. You will have a dynamic future ahead of you. After you were out of the show, there was no life left on stage. You were the last glimmer of excitement on the show.

You are out not because you had any problem. You are out because the show has a problem - a big one. Voting population, potential for voting irregularities, religion etc were too dominant in this system.’

Abhaas, focus more on your career and not on contests. Good luck to you.

  4. Masoud Safi on November 11th, 2007 12:13 pm

Abhaas you will be missed in the final show for sure. YOu are a great singer and I am sure you will be among tope singers in india in the near future. wish you success.

  5. Amin Iqbal on November 11th, 2007 12:39 pm

Abhaas is a God gifted born singer. His voice touches the heat, mind and soul. What a pity, Abhas is out, it was a biggest upset and injustice of Voice of India. My heart is broken. I could not sleep whole night. Just pray and wish some miracle happen. I love you Abhaas, you are for ever. God bless you.

    Amin

  6. Raji on November 11th, 2007 1:01 pm

I am really touched by the comment posted by Amin Iqbal.
The show has lost its spark with Abhaas’s exit.

  7. Jimmy on November 11th, 2007 1:06 pm

Oh, it was such a disappointment :( But then Aabhas I am sure that you have taken it in the right spirit. Your talent will take you places and it is all that you need to focus on. On a positive note, it is good that you did not get bogged down with the contracts that come as part of the winning title. ;) Now you can instead focus on steadily moving along your dream path of becoming a playback singer. My best wishes to your brother Shreyas as well who wishes to become a music composer.

The show has to move on … the show has moved on … but it is not the same as it was when you were there.

You accepted failure with a smile and exited with singing a song in a way that has forever shut the mouth of your handful critics whose only issue has been your tender age. I salute you and hope that the God Almighty may bless you with lots of success, good fortune and happiness throughout your life.

All of us fans will be waiting to hear your songs in the near future. Go on young man, go on!!

  8. Marina on November 11th, 2007 1:23 pm

Honestly Ishmit should have been out before the first 10 contest!! He cant sing, he has no sur, he songs are so flat! This is ridiculous! Are punjabis that stupid! No offence to them but this is ridiculous! How can they vote just cause they want an pubjabi to win! How stupid can that be when this is a music contest! not a politics!

I feel sorry for all those people who voted for Ishmit! You all should all shake your head and wake up !!!

  9. AJ on November 11th, 2007 1:41 pm

Amin, Nice to read your comment. But remember that Abhaas has ‘arrived’. Nothing can stop him now. It would have been nice if he was in the finals but honestly he has proved now and again that he is way above this competition. One should only feel happy for him.

There is something special about these shows - they always succeed in crowning mediocrity. Some reflection of our society i presume.

  10. Amin Iqbal on November 11th, 2007 3:49 pm

I love true music. For me music has no religion, sect and region. I ask all the Indian music lovers especially the voters, just liten Abhaas carefully and ask yourself what you have done? You did not vote for the Voice of India, you did something els. If you voted for an inappropriate voice you have to bear them for rest of the life. Is this what you wanted? I also, ask the program organizers, is this your standard for Voice of India? Is this what you are looking for? Please reconsider your selection criteria. God give you wisdom. May God bless you all.

  11. MOHSIN, NEW YORK CITY, USA on November 11th, 2007 3:51 pm

I wasnt happy at all with Abhaas’s Naina Thag lenge. Raja Hassan in SRGMP really did a fabulous job when rendering this song.

  12. Sidhu on November 11th, 2007 4:48 pm

Abhaas you are absoluting mind blowing! I look forward in the near future hearing from you! The show is not the same without you! SVOI seriously has a frickin problem with their voting system! In our eyes you are the winner! His last performance was excellent he really gave it all hes got, spectacular job! Miss you abhaas :(

  13. Sonnu on November 11th, 2007 5:09 pm

This is not the end of Abhaas, this is only the beginning! I can’t wait to hear you in the future abhaas, your voice is amazing, soo soothing. As for Ishmit, bud you should’ve been gone a long time ago, your voice is not powerful as abhaaas. Harshit, I dunno bud, I guess you’re the one to bring it home. Even though Abhaas was suppose to take it all, seeing that they said he had the second highest votes and then all of a sudden they change it up! SVOI is fcuked up! I am never watching this show again!
I love ya abhaas, miss you! Make us proud and show them up! :)

  14. sunny on November 11th, 2007 6:44 pm

if the result depends on people votes than whats the role of judges between?.y they(svoi)set that penal of judges.abhaas is real svoi but its bad with abhaas telint.abhaas was a brilient singer and harshit and ishmeet singh r ordinory singers specially ishmeet singh always sung easy songs than others.SVOI, its bad with abhas, with talent and with us.

    HI,

Harshit has a cinematic voice his voice can be playbacked for any actor. he is a perfect singer. he will (INSHALLAH) be the Voice of India. AMEEN.

  17. Yashmin on November 12th, 2007 1:28 am

    Shum

Harshit is not the best. Best had already left the show - Toshi, Irfaan and Abhaas. Harshit is better than Ishmeet and lucky enough to be here.
    And

Mohsin who cares whether you are happy or not. Please do not compare singers everyone has their own style. And both has sung it well and Abhaas has sung it at his exit. And he has sung it pretty well. It brings tear to the eyes.
A person who can bring tears by his singing has some talent whether you agree or not. So we are not bothered about what you feel - just get lost. You bideshi.

  18. ABBAS ALI on November 12th, 2007 2:23 am

    Hiya All!

First, Happy Diwali to you all! May this new year bring happiness and prosperity in your life!

Now coming back to Star Voice Of India. Actually, less said about the show, the better.

  19. Anees on November 12th, 2007 3:36 am

Mujhe to lagta hai iss show mein jhoot ki jeet huyee hai. I really feel for Abhaas and his familiy, because in these three he is way ahead of the other two singers and deserved to be the VOI. After Toshi’s elimination I dont even feel like watching the show, and after all those good singer’s elimination, I feel this show is a bull shittttt and nothing else, and I feel calling Lataji to this type of show is kind of dishonering her, and all the people who are the cause of those good singer’s elemination are the cheaters…

  20. Ajith on November 12th, 2007 4:36 am

two comments from judges made it very clear before that who will be top 2.

if Harshit goes out, what will happen to his granny.

one contestant each should remain from both the teams. than the show will be interesting…

If judges give this kind of comments, than the organizers should think even the viewers are not fools.

  21. rainnnn on November 12th, 2007 6:48 am

Harold, thanks for speaking of my heart! Abhaas ur this very performance makes u the voice not only india but of my heart here in Pakistan. Best of luck ahead…..and rest assured a great future even greater than ishmit and harshit is awaiting u. by the way Ishmit does not deserve to be in final three…he simply doesnt!

  23. Jimmy on November 12th, 2007 12:36 pm

Wow Jman - So much of bitterness for Aabhas and people who like his voice. Your statements should actually not be honored with a response but I could not hold myself back. It is such a shame that people like you bring your hatred and bitterness towards contestants that you do not like with such poor and downright insulting and uncalled for language. What a shame. What a shame. I am sure you like yourself the best amongst all living mortals in the world. Ou of all people on this forum, it is YOU who is out of his mind … perhaps forever.

  24. AJ on November 12th, 2007 1:17 pm

Jimmy ignore such psycopaths. I find it difficult to understand what does this creature have against monkeys. Childhood paranoia i suppose. Monkeys are just as respectable as any other species. Infact they are our ancestors and for many they are the form of our god. So i suppose this is the best compliment Abhaas can get.

By the way did i get it right that adhesh almost offer a contract to our man ?..

  25. Jimmy on November 12th, 2007 10:51 pm

AJ - you are right! We should ignore such psychopaths.

  26. Raji on November 13th, 2007 12:01 am

    Well said, Jimmy and AJ!
The comments posted posted by jman does not show his intense hatred for Abhaas or his intense love for Toshi and Irfan but speaks of his sick, uncouth, filthy and perverted mind. Even if Goddess Saraswathi herself were to come in front of him and sing, he would still pass some perverted remarks!

BTW, my favorite singers on Indian television reality shows are (in this order):

    1. Abhaas Joshi, Jabalpur (STAR Voice of India)
    2. N.C.Karunya, Hyderabad (Indian Idol II)
    3. Abhrokanti, Kolkata (SaReGaMa L’il Champs I)
    4. Amit Paul, Shillong (Indian Idol III)

    Any comments?

  27. ashok kumar on November 13th, 2007 3:35 am

hey you marina wake up m8.
this is 4 public not 4 u bud.

  28. MOHSIN, NEW YORK CITY, USA on November 13th, 2007 1:43 pm

    Yashmin
This is a free forum for all not a “yashmin only forum”. I can express my views just like u. So yeah if u dont care what i think its kewl. I dont give a damn what u think either. However, i wont stoop as low as you did with the name calling. Just take a chill pill girl.

  29. Jimmy on November 13th, 2007 3:05 pm

Mohsin - what Yashmin said as for Jman. Are you Jman? !!

  30. AJ on November 13th, 2007 3:56 pm

Raji, i like abhaas of course. He is my top. I havent seen the other shows so can not comment about the rest you mentioned. I once tried watching Indian idol but couldnt stand Anu mallik for more than a minute..So never got back to it.
Other singers have I have liked in this show are Irfaan, Sumitra, Toshi and abhilaasha..

I wonder why everyone is blaming judges so much. They are not the ones to decide at this stage…

    Om shanti (for the rest)..

  31. Sameer on November 13th, 2007 8:09 pm

I seldom have participated or even read about comments before, although I religiously followed the program over this website. But I’ve felt pain on exit of such an admirable talent, and more or so what a beautiful soul Abhaas is. A gentle well cultured boy. I always felt understanding music and rendering it are two varied aspects and I can see Abhaas has a natural gift for both. It somewhere does pinch me to say Abhaas was cut above Ishmeet and Harshit.

  32. Raji on November 13th, 2007 11:28 pm

AJ, what a pity! You should have heard Amit Paul in spite of Annu Malik. I did! In fact, Annu Malik was the one who was most vociferous in praising Amit. He could not stop himself! BTW, Amit Paul is not even a trained singer whilst others are. Anyone who has appreciated Abhaas to this extent will also appreciate Karunya, Abhrokanti and Amit Paul. These are the singers who as Sameer says above “Gentle, well cultured boys! They understand music and render it. A natural gift”. One thread of similarity between them……..none of them are the final winners in their respective programs …… they lost out to extremely mediocre singers at the nth minute.

  33. rony on November 14th, 2007 12:49 pm

First of all, Toshi was my favourite from the begining. But sometimes I felt that he is probably not very suited as a playback singer compared to some other. Everybody talks about Harshit being the one. I have not a technical person when it comes to singing, but after seeing Abhas for sometime, I feel he is probably the most suited to Indian filmi songs. His song touched my heart and he is so young! I could not hold my tears on his last song. Man! What a performance. I think the best by Abhas. Anyone who can sing this well, I can’t believe that was his last @ VOI.

All the contestant who reached the final stage(bemisal 12 or something?) were all good singers. But honestly, I had doubt about Ishmit all along. He always sings the same kind of songs and I think he is an average singer. Probably his reaching at the last 12 was fair, but on the top two! Please, give me a break!

If I had the option to choose 3, I would have selected Harshit, Toshi and Abhas for the final. But I can’t choose from any of them as the best. Personally I am not fan of Harshit, but I guess he is a very good singer and he deservers to be there. Feel sorry about the other two though. I hope all these three singers make their way in the singing world so that we can hear from these wonderful singers.

  34. Veena on November 14th, 2007 9:33 pm

Abhas, Harshit and Toshi should have been in the last three, any one of them is the winner cos all three are equally good. Ishmeet still there and perhaps will be the VOI? >>>>>>>>> the joke of the year is on Gajji and the judges

  35. Dev on November 15th, 2007 4:50 am

I totally agree with Veena. Now calling Lataji for final judgement for two untrained singers specially Ishmit- it is an insult of Lataji by Star Plus and Gajji. Now it doesn’t make difference for me and my family is not going to watch this show anymore.

  36. Raji on November 15th, 2007 2:09 pm

Veena, Please don’t say that Abhaas, Harshit and Toshi are equally good. Abhaas and Toshi are several notches above Harshit. No comaprison here, please!

  37. Yashmin on November 16th, 2007 1:38 pm

Abhaas and Toshi are past. We cannot do anything about it. Just say it is their bad luck.
But i do not know who is the best and who deserves to be VOI. But watching today’s show at Ludhiana, I felt what a waste of money. I think VOI is looking for anything not a singer.

  38. Raji on November 17th, 2007 7:15 am

    Mr.J,

There is a very old English saying ‘A man achieves fame only after his death’. Too bad Abhaas did not qualify for enough votes to keep him alive in the contest. People have woken up too late!

If you ask me, A NATIONAL SHAME!!!

As I have said earlier too in these columns. I have been an ardent-Abhaas fan throughout and he continues to be on the top of my favourite singers amongst all reality shows held on Indian television.

I agree with you, that Abhaas made a brilliant exit from the show. What a parting song! He brought tears to my eyes too and his rendition of ‘Naina Thag lenge’ still continues to haunt me even though it is past one week.

Gajendra Singhji can now make amends to all participants, especially Abhaas, Toshi and Irfan, by making them sing individual full songs in front of Lataji on the 24th. I am sure it will appease the fans of these and other contestants to a great extent and make amends to clear up the mess that SVOI is in now.

I hope he does not make them sing group songs only!

I wish someone could convey this very strongly to Gajji.

Is anyone listening and has enough clout in STAR TV to pass on this message to Gajji?

  39. Anannya on November 18th, 2007 11:00 pm

al is that by far Toshi and Abhas deserves to be in the final 2. Also possibly Irfan. he has the looks, personality and voice. but wht i don;t understand is how can Ishmit and harshit even me considered ot eb in the finals. this is definately a set up!

anyhow….i can;t wait for the Abhas, toshi and Irfan concert. hopefully they will come too Canada as well. plzzz come to Canada!!

  40. Madhu on November 19th, 2007 5:07 am

Abhaas put life in every song he is NO 1 VOI is Abhaas is one the best all other are not so much as Abhaas

  41. Nag on November 19th, 2007 9:15 am

Aabhaas’s exit proves that this show is anything but music. Aabhaas’s is a complete singer, he may not be a star material but a star in terms of singing. Neither Harshit nor Ishmit are appealing as singers. Both are flat and do not seem to be original.
God bless Aabhaas and I am sure real music lovers would definitely want Aabhaas to succeed

  42. Asad on November 20th, 2007 9:17 am

i just failed to understand this show. how is it possible that the whole punjab is voting for ishmeet? i feel that a bit of discrimination is involved in this. ishmeet is no where near abhaas as abhaas is a born singer. Now my vote is with Harshit as he is more deserving.

  43. RAMAN on November 25th, 2007 5:34 am

ISHMEET IS THE BEST , THERE IS A SAYING “JO JEETA WOHI SIKANDER”

  44. RAMAN on November 25th, 2007 5:37 am

PUNJAB ONE SIDE AND 3 ZONES AND UP ON OTHER STILL PUNJAB WON I AM PROUD TO BE PUNJABI BURAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  45. tapam on November 25th, 2007 9:20 am

its an absolute disappointment that abhass is out. however, nobody can stop him and he is real real playback singer. there is amendment required in the format of svoi where talent search based on voting is not correct and real singer can never come up as winner. i think in future the place or state of candidates should not be revealed as this is voice of india so let it be voice of india and not the voice of a particular region. hope this is communicated to the program organisers. god bless…

  46. Rohan on November 28th, 2007 6:41 pm

The best result made ever in the history of indian music competition are only two. First is Debojit and second is the winner of Saregamapa this year. all results except this are 100% affected by regional voting, nothing else. This television channels just go for such shows for earning lots of money and playing with the future of potential singer First of all we should stop that. Now coming to Aabhas, he was one the best singer and performer on the stage that i have ever seen in my life. They could have made the final a great success by having Aabhas, Irfan and Toshi in the final. Dears, do let me know if i m wrong. They could rock the show.

  47. arun on December 27th, 2007 11:11 am

abbhas was a better singer than ishmeet & harshit. so my voice of india is abbhas

  48. jayashree priyadarshini mohapatra. on January 9th, 2008 2:51 am

I want 2 know the conplete whereabouts of Abhas.
    lOVE U A LOT. 4 ME U R THE VOICE OF WORLD.

  49. arara Med from MORROCCO AFRICA on March 23rd, 2008 8:14 pm

    Excuse me i dont speek english but speek frensh;
    God bless you
